Im sure its been covered before but couldnt find the info:-

what is the minmax placements in from the side and up from the road that rear foglights reversing light should be placed? I have managed to find a reverse that matched the supplied fog light (cheap job from halfords..) and intend to put one on either side of the rear panel (note - not the wing), but don't want to end up with a fail point.

cheers, John

Your Fog light must be fitted to the center or off side of the car.

So no min distance from the out side, but watch the min 250mm above the road.

Reversing light is not required by law.

So I just put mine on to match the Fog.

Hope this helps

I've just checked three on the drive

Both SEAT and Rover with horizontal clusters have reflector panel between fog & brake light and 100mm separation (just)

Mitsubishi has with vertical cluster has indicator sector 110mm between.

Hi all

In the SVA bible (This years) chapter 9.1 Lighting/ signalling (Obligatory)

Note 2 states:

Rear Fog lamp seperation distance must be measured between the "illuminating surface" of each lamp. "Illuminating surface" should be taken to be the area of the "Reflector" to the rear of the bulbs".

Where lamps are mounted in a common housing and are "E" marked, the seperation criteria should be assumed to be met.

Looks like you can fit clusters then.

Hope this helps.

I guess both of mine, looking rather neat underneath the rear panel are gonna have to be moved and the rear panel butchered to make mr sva man happy.

That sucks.

I had mine under the rear panel and they failed for being 210mm above ground.

By flipping the brackets, they still bolt under the rear panel but stick upwards instead of down.

Now have 300mm ground clearance!

Try this, only had to modify the bracket slightly and no markes needed on the rear panel.

don't butcher your back panel just to keep Mr SVA man happy, just use the one crappy fog light supplied with the kit, attach it underneath the back panel on the drivers side so the fog light sits on top of the bracket ( not dangling down) this gives a clearance of about 295mm above the road, ok for SVA.

You can do something that looks better after SVA.
