Mystery Bits

With my Pinto head gasket set, I got some bits in the attached photo.

In the top left is the camshaft oil seal, in the top right are the valve

stem seals, but what about the bottom bits?? In the bottom right

are some black rubber, doughnut-shaped items, which look like they

would fit round the valve stems. However, there weren't any on

the engine originally and these doughnuts are not mentioned in the

Haynes Manual. In the bottom left is a black rubber circle, which

could have something to do with the camshaft, but the inner diameter

is too small to go over the camshaft. I haven't the foggiest what it's

for! Now wondering if I've got some bits from another engine altogether

with my Pinto gasket set. I'd be interested to know if anyone can

solve the mystery...

Cheers,

Pete

Thanks for the suggestions, chaps :) I had a look at the injectors and

it wasn't immediately obvious where those O-rings go, so I'll remove

one from the manifold and have a proper look. As for the black rubber

circle, it doesn't appear to go with thermostat, but I'll try it for size in

a few places.

I didn't think ithe black ring was for the thermostat but wasn't sure. Is it something to do with the distributor. Again I can't be sure but have a feeling it may be????

I see it's not just me that's got an "age" thing.......... ;) :)

He already knew that the large one was for the camshaft. and the ones with the springs on were for the valve stems.

OK, yes, I've checked and can now say categorically that the o-rings are for

the injectors and the rubber circle sits between the thermostat housing

and thermostat.

Sorted!
