Garage Floor Paint

Getting a bit sick of the dusty concrete floor in my garage, so wondering

if anyone had painted their's recently and what brand they used???

Bear in mind that my garage is rented, so I don't want to spend a fortune

gifting my landlord with the ultimate floor only to move out next summer!

Cheers,

Pete

I did mine about three years ago

Used Wickes Garage Floor Paint - seems to be wearing well. Could do with a touch up in a few places ( by the workbench under the vice )

Used three cans first primer/sealer then two coats (cans) of paint.

Total cost was about £36

You might get away with just a concrete floor sealer

I used light blue garage floor paint from B & Q, they do it in a small, medium and large tins. I think they also do grey and red. Wearing well so far.

It's a good investment, oil just wipes of it, keeps dust down as well. :D

Think the large tin at B & Q i used was between £30-40, but my garage is two cars lengths long and two wide.

Didn't use concrete sealer first but i guess it would go further if you did because it soaks in a little bit, but without you get a thicker coat.

We had the same problem, awful isn't it..

We treated the concrete to brush on sealant and surface hardener stuff, but it didn't make much difference.

In the end we carpeted the entire floor with some old carpet from a building site when they were demolishing buildings (RAF Bentwaters).

It cost us I think £7 for about 30sq meters.

I used a two part epoxy floor coating called chemflor EP - it is a lot more long lasting than most of the paints if you can get hold of it.

The trick I found out for painting floors was to use a large roller on a 5ft pole, you will cover an area of a garage nice and quickly. Then sit back with a cool beer or two and wait until it dries :)

Hi, when my folks had a double garage built, the builder suggested using the cheapest wood varnish we could find, watering it down with thinners for the 1st coat. It's been up 20 years, and only had 1 recoat!!

The only down side was the cheapest varnish gave the floor a yukky brown hue.
