  1. Hi, well have opted to do the Double wishbone conversion, so collecting all the bits and then just have to attach them in the correct place. Has anyone got any ide how big and what grade the track ends have to be to support all the forces developed??

Thanks Peter, is it in running condition? and how much?

    2l Pinto

Hi, has anybody got a spare 2L pinto lying about that they no longer need, or a planning to replace theirs soon? Thanks Simon
  4. Is it not illegal to have these plates on?? Thats what i keep getting told, but if there not that strict on it then great!
  5. Thanks for the offer RH Track, but think i am just going to fix it with weld and reinforcement for a few weeks and then attempt the double wishbone conversion.
  6. Well i made the long trip down to Dovr to pick the beast up, got it back ok, but it looks like a right mission to fit it as it gets in the way of everything, chassis, steering and pedals :boohoo: . Looks like a long project so i think i am going to replace the 1.6 pinto thats about to die, with a 2l pinto, nice straight quick swap. Then work on this 2.9 engine over the summer and hopefully this time next year
  7. I know, crap at loading pics!! Its basically the piece of metal that joins the suspension shaft to the back of the calliper, but hopefully no one else as had a problem like this as it is really anoying, the only reason i noticed is because the car would not really steer left and the nice smell of burning rubber seemed amiss. Good job i was only a few miles from home.
  8. Well my sliding pillar system broke, my dad fixed it last week and after a day of country roads.... i need him to bring his welder again!! Has anyone else has this part sheer off through excesive force (well a couple of bumps??) I am sure RHE should be sorting all us poor buggers out with new double wishbones! Maybe when one of us dies crashing into a ditch due to the suspension colapsing. Has anyone come up with a good and solid way of fixing this, that is if it is a common problem, i think lots of metal and weld is in order, untill i save for a conversion.
  9. Thanks, anybody know of any places a bit further down south?? Not sure the car would make it all the way to Yorkshire. Around the Northampton area?
  10. Thanks, how much in a convrsion from MNR??
  11. Thanks Rizla, dont suppose anyone knows his ID so i can contact him?
  12. Ok well maybe not twice the weight but quite a lot, it a ford 2.9 V6
  13. hi there, I have tried searching for this on the forum as i am sure it has been done but has anyone repalced the sliding pillar suspension on the 2B? I have recently bought a new, heavy engine and need to upgrade this and am looking for some advice? Thanks Simon
  14. Hello, just wondering if anyone can help. I have recently bought an engine giving out a standard 220 bhp and is twice the weight of a pinto. Can the original 2B chassis handle this power without twisting? Has anyone strengthened it? Also the front suspension on the original 2B, the sliding pillars, has always been a bit suspect, so was thinking of changing it anyway, but would it need to be done immediately in order for it to handle the extra weight of the engine? Thanks for the help
  15. well i decided to go for it and get it, if it doesn't fit then i am sure someone will buy it. i hope. Now all i need to do is get the dust off the lump hammer i used to put the car together, and work out how i am to afford two exhaust! Thanks, for all the input and keep it coming if you here of anything that may be of interest.
  16. Thanks for all the feedback guys, think i am going to get it although it looks pretty big in that mini!!
  17. Hi there, have seen a 2.9lt old scorpio coswaoth engine and it is going fairly cheap. I have done a little research annd it seems it is a popular choice to drop into a Sierra on a type 9 box. Therefore ideal to put in my 2B??? That is if it would fit as it looks a bit of a beast. Anybody used this engine or know any info on it Thanks Simon

    Exhaust

With the flexi tube i prseme it is quite easy to sort out from the manifold but hoe does the four tubes become 1?? I would be happy for flexi from manifold into a stainless tube to silencer?

    What Engine?

Well they shoul learn to drive, rwd is the only way to drive, far more fun.

    What Engine?

Yep that is heavy, will have to let my dad know he needs a new shed to winch it up by!!! but a V6 would be nice, but at the moment tyhe 318is looks a good bet
  21. 1186497

    What Engine?

Well i would like to be the first but at the moment the 318is engine seems a good choice as is already rwd. Although i am a ford lover and a nice V6 would be great, lets hope some other people let us know that it will fit!!!

    Exhaust

I have seen them but still work out quite expensive, hiring a pipe bender and a bit of work is surley a cheaper option. Obviously i would buy the silencer but as for the pipes from the manifold this does not seem to much of a challange if the pipe is cheap

    Exhaust

As you have no doubt seen i am looking for advice on a new engine, but the main stumballing block seems to be an exhaust for one as they are so expensive!!! Has anyone ever considered or indeed made their own? Any suggestions?

    What Engine?

Sorry if its stupid but i am not very clued up on the beemer engines. What gearbox doed the 318is engine fit too? What exhaust and i presume it can be turbo'ed with great efficency??

    What Engine?

Hi Bloke? Do you know if this as i expect would drop straight onto a type 9 box? What sort of BHP are they and do they fit?
