  1. Thanks, have being looking at the probe, or prefeably the mondeo ST24. Although they all seem a little thirsty and having to do 50miles a day in one might cost me a fortune. Parkers seems to think they are in the low thirties for mpg, from first hand experience would you agree?
  2. Hi, as you may have guesses....still looking!! Anyone know how classic car insurance is determined. Is it determined on the age of the car??? Just thinking of a 944 but how old would it have to be to get me cheap classic insurance?
  3. Dont laugh......i expect that tyre swapping if i win!!!!!
  4. Well monk a drunken bid on your car after i coudnt find it on ebay when searching for XR2I could mean iend up with it. Although for £120 its worth it!! No doubt it will go for more!!
  5. nope still no descion, the faster the better has always been my philosophy. At the moment, failing a nice Venom or WLR coming on Ebay, it looks like either a fiesta Zetec-s or a Puma. Puma has a bit of a girly reputation but is quicker than the fiesta Although there seems to be a Works Mini on Ebay for 5K. I can only presume no one wants it as it has a roll cage, however no doubt the reserve will be atronomical
  6. An XR2I with 3K spent on it would be some beast, have to pass on the offer though, was looking for something a little newer, have to admit though i always wanted one!
  7. Hi guys, just got a new job and the need to drive down the M1 a bit to get to work means the 2B is going to have to be put away for the winter so i am in the market for an alternative. Any suggestions are really welcome. Ideally another kitcar so i can swap the insurance over at 6 month intervals, however as it would be a winter car, a hardtop would be nice. Quantum 2+2, dont really like it. Fiero venom.....if i could find one then that would probably be ideal and see me extend my budget!! Although a nice Veranti on ebay at the moment, anyone know if these are good cars? Anyway Had a fiesta zetec-s a year ago which i loved, fast..ish and great handeling with many features. Could get another for around 3K. So needs to be fast..ish (under 9 secs 0-60) Reliable Plenty of features, especially in winter Cheap Insurance No more than around 3.5K :boohoo: Preferable no more than 5 years old. Any suggestions very welcome. Thanks
  8. Hi just wondering about if these are worth it? Basically i have at the moment a standard 2L pinto and i have come across someone selling twin DHLA 40's, are they work puttin on a standard pint? especially if i have a 38 DGAS at the moment? What effect would they have on performance and economy? If they are a good idea are the easy to fit and are they worth the starter motor + distributer + £40 Thanks for any help
  9. Will try to take some pics tommorrow, the standard 5 speed type 9 is installed.
  10. Hi, oh i was hoping all sloped down, it slopes what must be about 2-3 inches from back to front, i am using the standard pinto mountings so i cant understand it. It would suggest that the gearbox was too high but if it sat level with the front of the engine then the ground clearance would be far to small, it hits speed bumps at the moment!! Was thinking of putting some wedges under the engine mountings to raise the height of the front, unless someone else has experienced this and has a better idea? Thanks Simon
  11. Hi, in total i have had three pintos in my 2b and all of them seem to sit higher at the back and slope down towards the front. Is this correct?? Surely this means oil wont efficiently drain from the head and the carb float chamber will all be to shot? Thanks for any help/advice

    Exhaust Flexi

Hi, does anyone have, or no of any stockists of exhaust flexi, needs an inside diameter of 55mm and around a 1 to 1.5 meters long. Browsed the internet and phened a few shops but no one has any or knows where to get it? Thanks Simon
  14. Hi, was hoping ebay would be flooded with these but it seems theres never anything on there when i want it :gdit: Does anyone have by any chance a lightened and balanced flywheel in good condition that they want to sell? And if anyone has a decent uprated Cam for the 2L Pinto that they no longer need then this would have been the luckiest day ever Thanks Simon
  15. Best to leave it well alone then!!
  16. Good find, wish there was one on there now!! What about this? thought it sounded good and maybe a bargain if could be got for around £100. But looked on google and it reckons only 88HP?? seems low for a 2.3? Anyone know more about this Lima engine? Lima Engine
  17. Hi, would uprated valve spings be needed if standard cam was upgraded to a Kent or Piper cam or can i just swap them over? Also anyone have any idea how much a standard brand new cam would sell for? Thanks
  18. Well, thatnks for the replys..... Longborders looked the best option but maybe a bit too much work, and not really sure what all of it means think i will opt for a decent Cam, anyone car to offer their opinion on the which is best???? Kent or Piper? Then a modified Dizzy if needed And to top it off a lightened flywheel Decent K&N Filter All no doubt will come over budget but thats what credit cards are for Anyone care to offer their opinion and talk me out of any of these mods?
  19. Yep thought that might be the case, i'll get saving :boohoo:
  20. Cheers Chris but it seems such a shame to just put it back together as standard, although might be wise as no doubt i should 'run it in' Just seems like any changes i should do, maybe do them now while its out and in bits, save spending money on head bolts and gaskets again
  21. Hi, just wondering what everyone would do if they had a standard, but brand new 2.0 Pinto and around £200 ish to spend on the rebuild, if you could sell bits then that would free up cash. i.e the standard but never used cam. Thought of a fast road cam and a good air filter is about all i can afford but will it cut down my 0-60 time? Maybe twin 40's and cam but probably over £200, maybe sell standard new cam on ebay for a few quid, but i already have a 38 DGAS so is it worth spending the extra on 40's Anyway hopefully someone with a bit more experience and knowledge has some good ideas???? If you could give me expected BHP and 0-60 times for the set up it would be appricated, my recently poor times have made me obsesed with trying to get it below the current 8 secs Also just looking at the old pinto sitting in the car and it seems to be on the wonk, i presume it should be fairly straight but i am using standard mountings and is on the standard 2B mountings ?? Thanks, all help very welcome Simon
  22. Hi, yes it is the 205 block, not sure about cam cover markings as engine not at my house so cant look. I am presuming needs leaded petrol, but still only needed once every four fill ups.
  23. Hi, just got a new pinto engine, no engine number as it was donated to a college, but the marking by the number 4 plug is a definate I, not L. I realise this is not a usual unleaded marking, but by any chance does it mean inserts??? Thanks Simon
