  1. Yes. However it had run fine since the rewire after Alan had found out why it was running incredibly rich
  2. Sorry. The suddenly stopping isn't happening anymore I think that was just a case of me having the belts a little too tight and it making it feel like it was hammering the brakes. The engine is wanting to stall when driving along almost with a jerking motion. Sometimes it can be brought back alive with a quick press of the accelerator although now I can't even get the pump to prime and I now there is fuel in the tank
  3. Well I know it's definitely not brakes as it is doing it when I have come to a stop more often. Luckily managed to get to Tesco before it completely cut out. I did adjust the temperature on the radiator and that has made no difference
  4. Also when it stopped the other day I struggled to get the system to prime but when I did eventually get it going it was on full throttle on the clear flood settings as I found out later
  5. I'll adjust the temperature to make it run a little cooler to see if that helps first. I'll also chuck some redex through the system just to make sure that any clogged injectors is also ruled out. It's quite annoying as it has been running like a dream
  6. It feels like someone has hammered on the brakes when it happens as it's quite violent. It didn't stop today but it will happen during acceleration or at a steady speed
  7. That's the thing. I can get it to work and at times I can't
  8. Hi all. I was driving my superspec today with the sun out and as I was happily tootling along the car suddenly lurched as if it didn't have fuel ( clearly did as just refueled). Then it cut out not long after. I changed the earth point to check if that was the issue and still had the same result. My question is could it be the fuel pump decided that was time as I know the car has been run dry a couple of times in the past or could it be the filter. If you have any ideas I am open to them
  9. Hi guys what's the best way to mount a speed sensor. I currently have it on some old angled metal racking bolted together and joined onto the main mounting diff bolts and reading from the bolt heads. However at speed (70mph) it can get a little wobbly or when ever you go over a largeish bump. I was wondering is there a better solution that could take the flex or vibration out to make it more stable
  10. Having removed the lambda it seems to be running much cleaner.
  11. Well that's what I'm hoping will sort it when I'm ony way to stoneleigh. As it miraculously passed its MOT. Only because it clogged up the probe and the tester didn't want to risk it a second time when it was visually a bit better haha
  12. I know but what could be causing it to be running so rich. Could a faulty lambda be causing it. It previously wasn't working properly and now it's wired in but can't test it until get to stoneleigh and speak to Mr Superspec (Alanrichey)
  13. Hi all. My superspec is due it's MOT and it's kicking out an obscene amount of black smoke. What could be causing this and also why would it be running so rich. The engine did get flooded after trying to start after a rewire and it has also had a rubber gasket replaced on the throttle body. I really don't think it will pass the emissions test and it is running really lumpy. Any help will be greatly appreciated especially with stoneleigh around the corner.
  14. The steering wheel i would keep as its about the right size especially if you put the focus cowling and stalks on like mine. in terms of a removable one i think you would be best changing the column as if you go for a weld on one it will still come out far. That is what i was once told when i first put my roof on. However you do get used to the limbo that is getting in with the roof on.
  15. when you do the reversing light make sure you run continuity checks to identify which wires it is as i had 4 coming out of mine. When you do find the two that go together when reverse is selected it doesn't matter which way round they go. if your lucky like me the previous builder had extended the wires to the top of the tunnel.
  16. Well I think the cause of the jumpy speedo may actually have been the fact that somewhere along the time we have had it the end of it had been smashed off. I'm actually a little surprised it was reading anything to be frank. However, a new one has been ordered and an update will be posted once it has been fitted
  17. I think when I had my old cable driven one before I ditched it after it snapped again, it was a transit one but just needed a little fettling on the gearbox end
  18. The only electric I can see from it is the reverse switch unless I have genuinely missed something
  19. It will definitely be the cable. If you haven't got one make sure you get a 90degree right angle adapter as the space between tunnel and gearbox will be too tight and will have pinched and bent the cable. In this case eBay will be your friend or a good motorfactors will be able to source a cable for you
  20. It happened before the rewire but thought it could be a symptom of the old superspec nest which was an absolute nightmare. It is better than it was as under 'slow' acceleration it's not so bad I can reach 50 before wobble. I'm going to see if the sensor has moved tonight but when I do dip the clutch the speed does sometimes come back and is steady. @DanE do they make one for the mt75
  21. Welcome to the mad world of superspec ownership
  22. What's the best way to shield. That may be the best solution to try. It is an electronic Speedo for further info as they are etb gauges
  23. After a lengthy rewire and a new alternator I have finally got everything back together. However when driving along anything above 50mph and the needle jumps around as if it was Tigger. Does anyone know how to solve this Cheers
  24. Hi. What is the throttle cable from on a superspec. it was working fine then suddenly jammed and the pedal wouldn't return. It was also a good job it was at home and on the drive. I definitely know it is the throttle cable as when i took off the pedal box cover and took it of the throttle body, i could move the pedal and the cable wouldnt go back through. When off the car the cable has to be forced through with great force. any help greatly appreciated
