Hi. EVERYONE I’ve spoken to has this problem with the flight gauges. you would think for such an expensive setup they would be more effective ~ you can send them back for re calibration but I think it’s poor there so far out to start with.
I have the wiring dia and will dig it out.
-
Yes well done. Hope it inspires you to keep going
-
Hi. Yes we have.
ok if you hold the key engaging the starter and the engine sounds like it’s running check the main earth as sometimes the engine earths through the starter if the main earth is poor. -
Ok idle mix screw approx one turn out from full in.
hold throttle open slightly while crankingif nothing spray some brake cleaner /easy start in carb - does it start for a second or 2 ?
If yes fuel problem if no look at spark
but from how your description reads it sounds like fuel as car would not try to start if it was spark
-
This is a common issue you could fit a one way valve near the tank to stop the fuel returning to the tank but this is why most builders fit an electric fuel pump.

A pinto weighs around 117kg the cologne v6 weighs about 130kg. So really no difference but the tuning beyond head work becomes expensive but the standard torque will make you smile every time you turn the key.
-
Standard square facet on the Acc part of the ign switch I always put an inertia Switch in the power feed as god forbid you have an accident you don’t have 40ltrs a min still being pumped Out

I suppose it could be a “ mistake “ on the DVLAs part if engine and chassis numbers Match with log book but log book states 1600cc instead of 2000cc but the correct engine/number is in the car
-
That was my thinking.
-
Hi chaps I thought I’d ask some thoughts from someone that’s done it is it still as easy as change engine number and cc size on log book to go up from say a 1600 to 2ltr or is it now one of them DVLA ba11aches where I’m Now gonna need an engineer report etc.

Ok. I am using a st150 engine and used a mk3 mx5 NC gearbox. I also do have a very early zero chassis (3rd chassis they ever made).
Might be differences in newer chassis but I am not aware of a ns 5 speed.
I have pictures to prove it didn’t originally fit in my chassis. Does now .
Hi that’s the same setup I’m thinking of using
what mods did you have to make pls as mine is an early chassis
does the NC 6speed fit or just the 5 pls.
-
Have emailed g s and Richard says the NS 5 speed is a direct fit and there soooo cheap
-
Back in my escort days we had to run bpR 6es plugs or we had the same problem
-
Thanks. Was hoping to use the Mazda box but might have to buy a bell housing to fit the existing box to the Duratec
I think I’ll ask GBS what they say- 1
-
Hi does anyone know if the Mazda 6 speed or 5 speed If fitted to a 2.0 Duratec fits inside the standard zero chassis. ??

-
Hi you can buy the correct item from GBS.

The Ford VV carb is not one of the best. Look for a Weber DGV, (manual choke) or DGAV (auto choke), or a DGAS (hens teeth)
you will also need the manifold that goes with it, yours will not fit.
Otherwise you can get a refurb kit for the VV here..
https://classiccarbs.co.uk/product/fordfomocomotorcraft-vv-carbcarburettor-servicegasket-kit
He said he has a Webber fitted
-
Hi sorry assumed you using a Webber. The ford VV was not a good carb when new. Most people up graded to a Webber
before you pull the carb apart there is a solenoid on the vv that needs 12v for car to run check you have 12v going to it - never over look the simple

Bolts holding the seats in can be anything all they do is hold the seat down. It’s the belt that saves ya !
