  1. Thanks Gents, Was happy with the vertical fit until someone pointed out the possible counterbalnce theory, so thought it best to check.
  2. Is there any reason why I cannot fit my air flow meter vertically as against to the original horizontal position or is it set up with the flaps acting as a counter balance and therefore has to be horizontal. Thanks
  3. It's a "tiny" version of the bulbs fitted to the side repeaters. push fit and contact is made by the bare wires at the base of the bulb. This shows the type of bulb you are looking for http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4a8ce3be98
  4. From bits lying about in the garage, I used a piece of 1 1/2 " square section across the tubes at the front, and made up a 5mm ] shaped bracket for the rear on the drivers side tube. Rear was bolted at the top and bottom to ensure clearance for the brake rod. Hope this makes sense !!
  5. Going to fit an in line filter between tank and injection pump and had this idea that if I put in a stop cock it could save some grief when I need to change the filter or have pump problems. First thing that sprung to mind was to use the switch type as used for washing machines water inlet but not sure if it can be used for fuel?. Any ideas or comments?
  6. If power for 1 second is ok (was looking for approx 6 seconds as per previous posts) then I think I may be getting too far in front of myself and thought I had a problem but the system was working as it should. What I was trying to ensure was that, having got lights etc, I was getting power to the pump before tidying up electric bits and adding fuel into the equation. Pump did run on bench using direct feed from battery (2 second burst just to check) so system earth could be a problem, or by testing without fuel I have knacked it.
  7. Now fingers have thawed out enough to type. Have unwrapped all wiring checking connections etc. When I switch on ignition I am getting12 volts on 87 (Pump feed) for one second, then reverts to 0. Didn,t hear pump attempting to run, tried direct feed and ******* nothing (it did work earlier in this saga with a direct feed). Have now thrown hissy fit and will continue once I get replacement pump. Thanks to all for your advice in the meantime. Regards Bill
  8. Thanks Gents, have done some more checking before fingers became close to frostbite ! Red 30 comes direct from battery. Blue/Red 85 goes direct to ecu with no other connections. Testing with wires disconnected from relay give 12v at 30, 12v at 86, 0.04 at 85
  9. Not getting power to point prior to cut out switch Yes sierra ecu connector bolt tight and socket fully engaged
  10. Pump is ok, just not getting any power out of 87 on relay to feed it
  11. Having found some enthusiasm to get this long build moving again, got most of the electrics working. Using original sierra loom. From the relay which feeds the pump via a fuse, I have 12 volts at 30 (Red) , 12 at 86 (Black) but also getting 12 volts at 85 (Blue/Red which connects to EEC IV module) and nil volts on 87 (Black/red feed to pump). As the donor was not a runner therefore module unknown good/bad, took a punt on a flea bay replacement for £10 but still the same problem. The relay checks out okay and I have tried a replacement. Any suggestion on where to look now.
  12. Just had a look at the multiplug (5 socket) which fits on to the bottom of your picture with the wires from left to right, Green, Red, Purple/Black, White/Brown and Brown
  13. Just noticed 2 sets of new (in box) column stalk switches for sierra 1990 onwards if anyone is looking for some

    Computer

using windows xp, nothing new added recently have set volume control in real player and itunes to min but it is still doing it. Only changes the main control, not wave cd audio synth etc. It does it from scratch without opening anything - start up computer, check and reset volume control and it adjusts itself to max

    Computer

anyone any idea why my computer volume control has started to do its own thing. Since tues it goes to max whenever it feels like, using the slider to reset it sometimes works but sometimes it simply goes straight back to max. Did a system restore last night and thought the problem has gone but switched on tonight and its back again. Virus check ran okay and did not pick up anything. any ideas?
  17. If you send email address I can attached scanned copy as file attachment (too big for attaching on forum) Bill
  18. Donor did not have LH switch, have been looking in vain for BG83 type and am aware that later BG 87 etc are not a direct swop, but today at car boot found a switch which seller did not know origin, looks to be a match but has part no 81AG 13B302. Suspect it might be Escort. As it has horn/dip/indicators and the socket matches the loom plug, am I being naive in thinking that it will be a straight forward replacement Thanks Bill
  19. I would also add change filter and do things soonest (diesel seals do not like petrol)

    Re Bits

Sorry but have to agree that for sale section should "list price" otherwise it becomes another Flea bay. However I also thought initially that there was nothing wrong with what you had done, however on reflection I can see where the moderators are coming from. It,s the old case of the rules having to be set for the rogue minority which ends up spoiling it for genuine people like yourself Does not answer any of your questions but I understand your frustration Bill
  22. Normal practice in the transport field. I work for a bus company where licence checks are carried out on a 6 monthly basis. "There are some drivers who think points make prizes" Copies (held under lock and key) are there to prove to auditors e.g. VOSA that licences are monitored.
  23. This was where it was on the display car when I picked my kit up - I could only see disadvantages in putting the battery there i.e hernia when you need to lift it in/out, so have cut panel down to fit further forward and will make a battery tray to fit in the normal position.
  24. Anyone got an early type LH column switch - the horn push type. Was missing from donor, got a set off ebay (90BG) then realised that they are somewhat different.
  25. Nigel Got the silver box and loom etc [quote Might have been attached to the dizzy It still is, 1 EEC IV Ignition module (thought it was just a plug connection) Many thanks Bill
