If I could get the Dellortos to work so it's driveable I would happily take it to the rolling road but it's being a pig. I've rebuilt them , bought the correct mounting kit and still it's a bag of crap!! I will have one more attempt then they are coming off! Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. Will I have to cut the bonnet to accommodate the above carbs or will they fit under the 2b bonnet?

Hi all,
Would either of the above work well with a 2.0 Pinto , FR32 cam and standard Bosch vacuum dizzy?
I'm going to try once more with the twin Dellortos but if I can't get it so it's driveable they are coming off and I'm considering one of the above. I just want something that's simple and reliable.
Cheers Andy

Hi,
Had exactly the same issues as you, 2.0 Pinto with Bosch Dizzy. I put a new heavy duty earth strap on, replaced the battery with a heavy duty Bosch one and still the same. Bought a Bosch 1.4KW Starter and cured it. £75 delivered off eBay . Those old starters are only 0.85KW and are not up to the job.

Yes. I had old Vauxhall Recarros in mine originally. Very comfortable but they are heavy and no room. I think mine were mk1 Nova GTE. They sold well on eBay so must have been rare! I was going to dump them if no interest ! They did that well I only had to put a tenner towards my leather Westfield seats! Result. Lucks changed now though , cars runnng like a pig! Hopefully Carb rebuild will sort. May make Stoneleigh:)

I've got Westfield SEIW Seats in mine very comfortable and loads of room

I don't know of anywhere Dan. I think Tractor knows of somewhere Leicester way. He suggested we all go together to get a
better rate.

Thanks. I have four tails into one pipe that goes to the dizzy. Do I do away with it?
Cheers

Please:)

Good idea Ken. Can you do me a policy for 50 quid!
-
I had brilliant one less than a mile away (John Wilcox competition engines ) but unfortunately he has retired the RR unless I can persuade him otherwise:) . I think Tractor knows where there is a good one local. I think I'll just rebuild the carbs With the jets that came with them. I honestly think the needle valves are shot . I will replace those and have another go at the floats and see how it goes. Anyone know about the Vac pipes? Block off or leave on.

Thanks guys. It will definitely go to a rolling road but I need to get it so that I can drive it to the MOT station then to the RR. It's been off the road for seven years . The engine I have rebuilt and now just want to get the carbs so it's drivable.
Thanks all.
MarkB you have a PM Cheers

Ps According to Dave my Air Jet may be a little low. He says 4x choke size plus 50. So that would make 194 and I have 170?

Hi all,
Having trouble with the above . Stripped today and obtained this info. Please forgive me I have limited knowledge with these carbs.
Twin Dellorto DHLA 45
Chokes 36
Emulsion 7772.6
Air 170
Jet142
Idle 7850.1
Jet 55
Pump Jet 40
Needle 170
Choke 7482.1
I'm running a 2.0 Pinto with Fr32 Cam and Accuspark electronic Dizzy. Are these jets compatible? Also I have a Vacuum-advanced dizzy should this be blanked off and capped off on the manifold? Any help much appreciated I know sod all about these carbs. They were overfuelling, spitting and farting! I have cleaned the jets, set the float heights and they are runnng marginally better but not useable. I have ordered a service kit which I'll be fitting as soon as it arrives. Does anyone know the procedure for setting the floats . I've read level, 17mm and 25mm!!
Thanks all, much appreciated
Ps if anyone local would like to pop round that would be much appreciated. There will be tea, coffee , beer food on offer!!

Stripped and cleaned the carbs today and set the float heights. Still spitting through the carbs and occasional back fire! Considering getting rid and buying twin choke webbers. Would this be a straight forward conversion?

Hi Guys,
I need to replace the red positive wire from the battery to Starter Motor. Needs to be approx 30" long . Running 2.0 pinto. Does anyone know the spec I need in amperage? Lots on eBay ranging from 170A to 485A.
Cheers Andy

Thanks. So Is it a standard manifold for both those carbs?
