    Gutted

Hi Guy's, I've just got the head off my pinto. When i fitted it 3 years ago my mate renovated it and told me it was a 2.1lt. I've put a tape measure to the cylinders and there not measuring any more than a 2lt. Im getting about 91mm diameter. Does this mean that im right - it's a 2lt or might the stroke have been lengthened to make it 2.1lt? Jon
  3. does it make it that much quieter?
  4. Hi Guy's, I can't find the article on cutting open the RHE exhaust and repacking it! Where is it.... or did i just imagine that there was such a thing! Cheers, Jon
  5. Hi Guy's, Does anyone know if the robinhood spare wheel cover has a hard face to it or is it just fabric? If it is soft does anyone know where I may get a ridgid one from? Tar, Jon
  6. Hi Ron, Yep there 12 point spline bolts.
  7. Hi Guy's Can anyone please tell me what size spline drive is required to get the cylinder head bolts undone. Going to brave Halfords in the morning to buy the right size bit! Cheers, Jon
  8. Cheers matt, Looks good, though i'll have to spend a bit more time working it out. Not an electronics wizard yet! Jon
  9. Nigel, After I read that the FR34 was a sports injection cam I thought I'd better check the box again! Im feeling a bit silly now as my cam (which has been under my bed for a long time) is not an FR34 it's an FR33 Fast road/rally. Does that change everything? :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: Jon
  10. Ummm...... so what your all saying is that my hot cam will run on a DGAS but its not going to get the full potential and by fittig a hot cam im going to be reving it loads to keep the it 'on cam' so my fuel economy will be rubbish still. Im thinking i may be best selling my FR34 and going for a milder cam like an FR32. The original cam is badly worn so needs replacing with something else anyway. Put the DGAS on and have it rolling roaded.
  11. Thanks guys, I think i'll go for a switch on the negative side of the coil. and perhaps a battery isolation key. Thanks for advise again! Jon
  12. Hi Guy's Im thinking of putting in my own little switch somewhere hidden that will stop the engine from starting. How is this best done? Jon
  13. Cheers Nigel, Do you think I may get better fuel economy by dropping the dellorto's even with going to a hotter cam?

    Carb Or Carbs

Hi all, Planning a bit of a tune up in the next week or so. I have ready an unleaded head to replace my old 4* head on my 2.1 pinto. I've also got a FR34 cam to go in at the same time and a DGAS carb. I've not done any work on the head.. Its an injection one. Will this all work? does the FR34 profile require an uprated flowed head with bigger valves and will it work ok with the DGAS carb? I have dellorto 40's fitted at the moment but they are too thirsty! Any one else running a similar set-up? Cheers, Jon
  15. Hi Guys, Can anyone suggest a place to get a hood frame made up in the north west. Im wanting to change my current rusty hood sticks for a nice shiney stainless set that will match the panels. Might make it come to pieces to so it can go in the boot out of the way. Cheers, Jon
  16. Hi, That's me!! Working in A'side at the moment and have been trying at every opportunity to take the car for the drive from home past Coniston to Ambleside. Brilliant weather too..... well it was by the afternoon. Think I spotted you passing too. Jon
  17. last time this happened to me I had a right job stopping them! Found the adware program by looking at the processes running in task manager (press control-alt-delete together once) and checking online (in google) what each one was until i came across the one that was responsable for the popups. Im sure that someone can tell you a better way, but it might help. Jon
  18. Thats Magic! You have a PM! Cheers, Jon
  19. a lot more than my budget! :boohoo:
  20. Cheers Dan, Nope...that one appears to have been sold. So get checking those shelves! Thanks, Jon
  21. I got some nice shiney silver stalk mirrors from Car Builder Solutions, but the stalks have gone rusty in 3 months.... so i wouldn't choose these! Helpful in a way....i guess! Jon
  22. Im 99% sure that i have a points coil fitted. So it sounds like a change is in order! Thanks for the info!
  23. Hi all, Long shot but does anyone have a vernier cam pulley for a pinto spare? For a fee of course! Cheers, Jon
  24. Don't think i'd dare to do that with mine!! They have a nasty habbit of back firing though the carbs! Ouch!
  25. Just a quick update! Solved the problem..... I took the ignition off the car including all the wiring and dissy and put it back again. Changed the inline plastic fuel filter and cleaned out the banjo filters each of the dellorto's. All seams to be running fine now.... better than it has ever before to be truthful! Thanks for the help
