  1. As increasing the car’s wheel rim diameter by 1 inch means I need to increase the tyre section width by 10mm and decrease the tyre aspect ratio by 10 points?
  2. Hi All, please forgive me for being a simpleton, however I would like to get a understanding on total rolling circumference and alloys/tyre size I wish to purchase new alloys and tyres for my 2b, currently on it are 14 x 6jj 38. Tyres 185/60r/14 So 14's with et 38 4 stud, is pcd 4x108? I wish to get a set of 15'as carbon huggers to go accommodate 15's and better tyre choice, at the moment there is a few mm spacer on also, can people please confirm I could purchase a set of 15 x 6.5 or does it have to be a 6 j Tyres look mostly in 195/50/15 Is this the right size or what should I be looking for? Chris
  3. Damn it, could have done that before I prepped and sprayed, could have them looking pretty unnoticeable, damn you lot and your good ideas too late!
  4. Hi, does anyone have a good trick or know of a product that would fit into old rivet holes, to blank them off such as black blanking grommets but are 3-4mm?
  5. Then mastering 10 years of practice put into 2 days I went for the body work
  6. Happy with how this came out, it's not going to be a show winner but I'd rather £2k in my back pocket for other bits
  7. Managed to get most imperfections out, wings are another matter which I'm undecided on yet. Then started on the priming
  8. Well a bit of time over the Christmas break and weather has hampered my work so have been able to crack on with the spraying.. (lots of learning... But before you see I'll let you know that I was qted £2500k for a good enough spray job so I thought I'd take it on myself first and see)
  9. You beauty, thank you , can get over no problem yeah
  10. Hi, could anyone point me in the direction, well a link would be great, to where I can get replacement lenses or units for the rear fog and reverse as they are fairly grubby and I can't get them looking good enough to go on the revamped and sprayed car, searched all places online. Chris
  11. Thank you both, great idea, do you have any trouble getting the nut off if needed with the shoulder gone?
  12. Hi All, could anyone share some pictures or advice on the alligator style bonnet hinge, at the moment there are just 2 mismatched standard bolts with a nylock, are there some smart solutions out there for this? As being near dash both sides it's quite a visual area. Many thanks Chris
  13. Cheers Nelmo, have switched so now it blows through, strange how things get built or added and not checked properly. Regarding the crankcase breather, there is no catch tank, the tubing added was too long and worked up through inlet manifold and so had a pinch on it, the filter was heavily gunked up so on test run was spitting out, I have re done the pipe so it's free and a new filter on, there is a steady stream of murky 'smoke' oil vapour coming from it, is that normal, potentially from having been nipped up and sat still for years it could take a while to clear better, or is that normal? Chris
  14. Thanks chaps, have blocked off and will order up a device to delete the whole pipe and cap it up I have been fettling with the set up today and engine is running as sweet as a nut now, valve clearances were not great so all adjusted and is incredibly quiet especially with such a high lift cam. The electric fan that was added is a suck and fitted on the front of the radiator... Which I believe is close to useless?? Especially whilst in motion... So I have temporarily reversed polarity so for set up and checking it's working OK, can anyone confirm that's OK? On a test run it was spitting out oil from the crankcase breather filter, the engine oil is at half measurement so the most common cause would be gunked up as I believe its not too full of oil, So replace and will be OK? Or could there be another issue that could cause this?
  15. Small tarting up of the rocker cover completed, managed to get thriugh all the layers on the bonnet and primed, rest of the car finished within the week ready for its new look. Putting a new carb on that the fuel return pipe is not needed, can this be blanked off safely with stop end and jubilee or is it best to be stripped and then capped off at tank?
  16. I may be sticking these up for sale as taking delivery of new ones, they're from Intatrim.
  17. Thank you for your advice I will get digging on the setting up of that carb, will discuss with him then, appreciate your time.
  18. It's running very lean on idle and had to set at 1200 to be okay, but was causing engine to overrun (diesel ing) he believed it was due to them not being progressive and sucking too much air in at once, he said he was going around in circles trying to adjust, he specialises in setting up carbs and plenty of experience so I may have missed things he was doing so I can't say if something may have been missed, I only saw adjusting the one that can be seen above the connecting gear ratchet, he advised to go for a 32/36 as would work better on mine being a 2.1 and with the cam I have. Is that a good move? , an uneccesary move? Or if tuned correctly will be good being progressive?
  19. Hi, have had a tuner set up the car today. It has a twin 38 non progressive carb from v6 on, its running very lean and he cannot get it set nicely, overrunning, he has advised I need the 32/36 to suit my fast cam, can anyone confirm what they have on?
  20. Small update on progress I have Bob Archer from mobiletuning norfolk coming tomorrow to do a full test on the engine and equipment as it has a unknown race cam and various upgrades completed by iJem engines, we can then see what we're getting from the girl and plan next course. The speedo cable is lovingly looking at me in the face rather than doing its job! Upon reading up I will cut a good hole into the tunnel.. Will this likely be able to fix back into the connector or would I need to get a new one ready for it? I've also started stripping back all the body work so that I can get it ready to wrap
  21. Luckily run my own business that can continue, so can take off some time, but I've already found myself knocking off too early so need to keep check on that. Nice little place out in the sticks here, just down road from Wroxham at RAF Coltishall base. It does feel like a good base, just a bit more rust under the seat panels than had hoped for, cleaning it all back so can then start cutting out and replenishing Would like to ask about the sliding pillar set up.. Living close to Snetterton I've been there in cars and my R6 and would definitely want to be able to take this on too, what I would like to get an understanding on is the true difference in upgrading to double wishbone, understand will be recommended that it's better but with kit at £650 odd plus I'd need to get this done for me are we talking seconds a lap and poles apart on the road? Chris
  22. And now a complete strip down has started so that I can check over everything ready for the winter re build
  23. The engine has had a full rebuild Ported and polished to 2.1, big valve head and twin choke 38 weber
  24. So the previous owner had it stored for 10 years, they then brought it out clean up and get ready for Mot and were hit with a nice warm fire
