  1. Started by Jake Gully,

First build and rescue of what I believe is a Gen 1 GBS Zero. I believe the kit was purchased in 2007/8 c/w a 2ltr pinto engine. The chassis has been 30% built to form a rolling chassis and the engine was upgraded to a new black top Zetec 2ltr. It has had spent the last 13 years stored in a garage, but is in decent condition. All stainless steel body panels, so not the lightest around. Initially, I am looking to remove the suspension arms for powder coating, hand paint the chassis/internals and spray the roll bar. The side panels may need some attention as sikaflex bonding to chassis has dried and parted and probably needs redoing. Otherwise ge…

Hi All, So I started my journey to conquer the forum posts in August, knowing I couldn't use my fathers knowledge I set to work on engrossing myself into all the threads and trying to piece together everything that I would need to help me, it feels like I've blinked and now we're at the end of September, my little girls back to school, I've got a massive beard and I'm not really sure what day it is, suffice to say the help and knowledge on here is great (though roughly working out I'm still only about 30% through some sub sections they're huge! I wanted to show right from the start, so hopefully you guys can point out where I've been stupid and hope I d…

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my journey of restoring my Tiger Cat E1 kit car, which I’ve named Eva. I’ve documented the entire process on my blog, and I hope it can inspire others who are interested in project cars or looking to take on similar restorations. From tackling extensive rust issues in the cooling system to refurbishing various components, I’ve chronicled each step of the journey, including the challenges I faced and the lessons I learned along the way. You can check out the blog here: A Tiger Called Eva. I’d love to hear your thoughts, and if you have any questions or tips, feel free to drop a comment! Looking forward to connecting wit…

Hello all, Many cortina based S7’s still out there? Recently bought and set to work refreshing a 1980 cortina based s7, engine (2.0 Pinto) and chassis matching original donor. Rear axle has the fifth link which has just failed. I’ve come across the posts from Chris N describing the micra link fix for axle wind up. Is this still the best fix? What else works? Micra bits not as common these days. Any and all help most welcome. Especially if there’s any cortina based s7 build guides out there?! Thanks, Mark

  10. So after a hiatus of 18 years I've returned to kit car ownership, I had a GTM Rossa as my first ever car - but not knowing one end of a spanner from another it didn't end well. I purchased this 3a off of ebay on Saturday. It looks good but in reality the MOT isn't worth the paper it's printed on! I wanted a project and have definitely got one. I wondered if anyone on here knows/knew this car...I have a copy of an ebay sale from 2012 when it was immaculate. It is also covered in RHOC stickers from 2010 (it even went to Le Mans) - one of the previous owners was clearly an avid owners club owner. Sadly the last 8 years haven't been kind...the car has been used…

Hi, I am not getting the time to fix a problem with my car, and also want to make a couple of upgrades to the car. Anyone recommend a garage that would be able to do the work in Worcestershire or nearby. Not adverse to the idea of another RHOCAR member if of interest (and they have their own car so i can see ) cash available! Problem: Indicators / Hazards. This has plagued mine for ages, I did a temp fix that was in place for 4 years. It needs that circuit rewiring and switch gear replacing. upgrades: I got an ali radiator from GBS - needs fitting (replacing rover radiator, so some fabrication needed) and.... i want to swap out the mechanical combin…

Hi there , Joined the club to access information on a robin kit car I have ended up with . It was built in 1990 i think and is based on the dolomite sprint. Does anyone know what model she is ? also was there ever a build manual for these ? the car is ok but need fully recommissioned and some horrible botch jobs sorted, The dash was an oak panel but has unfortunately split what would you recommend to replace this with ? Ill no doubt have other questions over the coming months and appreciate and info. Thanks

Just looking for some opinions really, I’m doing a bit of rewiring and dash work and I thought as I’m in there do I take out the heater matrix and wiring etc 🥴.

Hi all, New member here. I'm Lewis and I have an Exmo. I have been so inspired by the 'Barn to IVA' thread (thanks NickandNeil) that I have decided to give it a go myself. I started this build about 10 years ago and have unfortunately never finished it. After getting nearly there I had to move out of where I was living and as a result the Exmo has been living outside under a tarp ever since...until Jan when my wife and I bought a new home with a garage!!! Some pics below of the car, lots of work to do, unfortunately a fair amount of rust underneath and a few issues to sort. I have decided to strip the car right back and will be removing everything but…

Here is a project I’ve been doing over the last couple of weeks during lockdown. It’s been on my radar to do for a while and as I knew it wasn’t going to be a 5-minute job, now seemed as good a time as any. It’s doors and a Surrey top for mate Gaz’s Robin Hood “The Hood” which is a rare car, later than a 2B but pre-dating the GBS Zero. The car features inboard front and wishbone rear suspension, all fully adjustable and was intended as a more track focussed version of the 2B, similar in size but different in virtually all areas. A nice car, but totally useless in the rain. Prior to lockdown, Gaz and I had started to look at the job with the plan that Gaz would …

well I purchased my 2b about 2015 or there abouts. But due to various other projects of more concern(well mrs say so), I did not work on it till summer 2016. I brought it as a rolling chassis. The previous owner just did not have the time to build it, I purchased it as chassis which had all the suspensiom loosely attached so it could be transported. Also had a rebuilt 2.0 pinto, new webber etc .parts were either reconditioned or new so was basically un started other than i did not need to strip a donor car(AWESOME) I know the bodywork is suppose to be abit of a pain on these so I decided to temp fit all of them before going any further with the rest of the build. The…

Hi All, Thought I'd start a build thread in order to keep a track of my progress and get any hints, tips on things I may not be doing quite right (probably most of it, but as they say god loves a trier) It all started in September of last year, having bought my first house the October before and dismantling the old asbestos garage, it was time to fulfil a childhood dream. Buying my first kit car! After trawling through various forums and eBay I decided I would look for an unfinished Robin Hood 2B. A couple of weeks later I found a kit in Swansea and the owner could deliver which was a bonus. So after a short trip I went to view the car and here I am. The car is…

  18. Well I suppose it is about time I show you all what is replacing the Robin Hood, so here it is, the first video in a project car series. Look forward to hearing your thoughts. I'll change the topic title to something more meaningful in a few days so those who are interested dont have the surprise spoilt. Also, for those of you who havent seen them posted elsewhere, there have been a couple of videos showing some mini-projects going on prior to the start of the build, so you may be interested in catching up on this playlist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhF8mZsmx_w&list=PL-_tWQqniU8kE9fgNjIv3RsQQ0AwjvdbN

Hi All, I hope everyone is staying safe in these crazy times! I though it was about time i joined everyone into what i have been up to with my Zero. I have been keeping a personal `diary' of my progress which has been anything but straight forward. I will update every few days or so. This will allow you to all catch up. As a brief introduction the plan was a quick engine swap and have the kit back on the road within 6 months! Oh how i misjudged that time scale!! What i will say is that i have had a lot of help from club members. My day job means i am sat at a laptop all day and have no engineering experience other than years of tinkering on with mi…

Hi all and thanks for letting me join. I picked up this kit part built about 10 years ago with very little info other than all the parts are meant to be there to finish it. I believe it to be a 2b and since I have owned it I’ve installed brake lines and managed to get it to stop, put the fuel lies into a Jerry can and managed to get it to start and that’s about it. My plan was to finish it and put it through a test. I guess my issue is getting some time to actually look at all the parts and work out how they fit, find some sort of instructions as to where they go and then get on with it. I’ve read there maybe two versions of the 2b? One that is really …

Afternoon All, It seemed to be a good idea at the time and of course it was the right price! But i seemed to have acquired a Robin Hood S7 (I think). It is a part built monocoque construction with the inbound front shocks and what looks like standard rear shocks mounted on the outside of the body behind the rear wheels, the rear springs are what can only be described as in place but not too sure how long they will stay there So what i was wondering is if any of you fine gentlemen(or ladies) are able to point me in the right direction of build plans. Please be nice, i have already had enough grief from the wife to do me a lifetime and am now confined…

Hi all So we have just bought our first kit car, an unfinished barn find we found out in the depths of Cornwall. My dad and I have been talking about restoring a car for years and as we have both always been big fans of Lotus, so when this came online super cheep we jumped on it. We are uniquely unqualified for the job, my dad being a kitchen appliance engineer and me a internet technician for Virgin. So we will be happy for any help and advice the forum can give us. So the basics, it seems to be a Robin Hood EXMO with a 1984 Sierra chassis, a 2L Pinto engine and a lot of work left to do if we ever hope to get it through the IVA. After having a good look over it we ar…
