  1. I am looking at fitting a steel bar across the underside of my MS chassis 2B, for seat and inner harness fixings. I want to fix it’s outer ends in the area of the rear outer sus mountings as others have done. I know there is a rectangular horizontal plate welded to the chassis tubes for rear sus mounting in this area. Could someone with a bare (-ish) chassis please tell me the distance this plate extends from the inside of the chassis rails towards the centre of the car, so I know where I can fix to it? I didn’t do this part of the car and I can’t suss it out with floor pan and suspension bolted on. Also, what is the purpose of the thing that hangs down from sierra suspension here? It’s like a half tennis ball with a dimple in the bottom. Can it be cut/ground off? It doesn’t appear in any photos I’ve seem of other builds. TIA, Brian
  2. Is that the dash of a car or a 747! Wow.
  3. Dave, you seem to have enough spares left over to build another complete car! (thanks for PM about belt- I'll happily take it off your hands some time, unless you know of someone in greater need) Salty, no problem. With the amount of time (and money) I spend there, I'll probably get an invitation to my local motor factor's xmas dinner, so changing a small part like this shouldn't be to difficult! Cheers, Brian
  4. Got a 55mm one for a mid 80's fiesta but it is a quarter circle only. Sounds like this isn't right. Damn.
  5. Thanks for the photos Steve, it's pretty clear how you did it now. The mountain bike wheel at the bottom left had me a bit puzzled until I sussed that it wasn't part of the car! Is the rear part of the 38mm angle fabrication just screwed (bolted) into the sheet steel floor, or did you manage to fix it to the Sierra rear suspension plate as well? I have got something like a half-sphere on a plate at each side that would be ideal to fix to if it was ground off flush to the floor- I don't notice anything similar on the pics (I didn't do that part of the build and haven't found it on the vids yet so am not sure what this bit does). Thanks again, Brian

    Petrol Filler Neck

Richard, How right you are. I don't know how anyone could build one of these in one lifetime without input from the 'community'! In answer to your question, Tifosi do the 2" flex hose. I don't have their contact details but they should be easy to find- let me know if you are struggling and I will email you their details. Cheers, Brian

    Petrol Filler Neck

Phil, I bought the filler seal last Saturday for mine. It was just under £3 from my local Ford main dealer. If you want the part number I could have a look on my receipt for you- it is pretty clearly shown on their exploded diagram though. For flexible 50mm bore pipe, Tifosi do some at £15/m. I will probably get mine from there (if anyone has any going I'll gladly pay for a 12" piece). The guys from my local OC (NW) say you should fit tadpole trim around outside of filler for SVA as well. And recommend that pipe doesn't protude more than 1" into tank or filling is a problem. If you use MDF for the spacer as suggested earlier, IMHO the MDF would need to be very well sealed or it will turn to mush. I am going to use marine ply and a lot of varnish. Cheers, Brian
  8. I have heard of people changing the yellow clutch quadrant for a 'faster' one, but all pics on peoples websites still have standard yellow one fitted. My pedal box is out at the moment so I could replace mine quite easily- Is it worth doing? TIA, Brian
  9. Thanks for the replies, sorry not to have thanked you earlier. (away on business) Doc, you must be seriously tall! I'm 6'3 and hope the intatrims to be spot on. Steve, I guess your M8 8.8's with nylocs were OK for SVA? I think I understand where you put your rear cross beam- did you have to notch it for the handbrake cable? Is the front cross beam the one for the handbrake? Any pics would be gratefully received. Thanks again, Brian
  10. I just ordered a couple of Intatrim seats at Donington and am now thinking how to fit them. SVA manual seems to say use 8.8 tensile screws for seat fixing, so Q1- if fixed direct to floor (e.g. passenger side), are penny washers also recommended? (I think so if fixing to fibreglass) Q2- if fixed to runners, are 8.8's required for runner to floor AND seat to runner? Q3- what cross section of steel is required under floor for fixing to? Q4- Is it just me that thinks it is daft to have to fix fibreglass with high tensile screws? Q5- how does harness look with these seats (Odysseys)? Any experiences gratefully received, thanks in anticipation, Brian
