    Megajolt

I am thinking of fitting Megajolt to my Vx XE 2L - wher did you get the kit from ? Richard
  2. Same thing has happened to me twice now - letter from DVLA demanding payment of fines even though I SORN'd already. It took several phone calls & letters to get it sorted out. I now send all documents to them via recorded delivery as they seem to lose most things I sent them.

    Barkston 2006

Excellent - can't wait to show him this thread tonight

    Barkston 2006

Cheating - who me - never - just a different interpreation of the rules thats all. The Firefox is being modified slightly ready for this year - new PG1 gearbox with LSD, bigger clutch, Throttle bodies, Emerald ECU, full roll cage and almost 50kg of weight removed. And yes I will still be running those lovely sticky slicks.

    Barkston 2006

Both days are marked in my diary - can't wait.
  6. So far it has cost well under £100 for the manifold/throttle bodies.
  7. I have also been messing about with some Bike throttle bodies for the Firefox. We have modified the original Rover (k-series) alloy inlet manifold/plenum and mounted onto it a set of Honda CBR 900 throttle bodies. We are using the original rover fuel rail and injectors. Also have the option of keeping the honda fuel rail and injectors and running two sets of injectors as well as using the honda Throttle Position sensor. I am currently tring to figure out the wiring for the TPS and how also trying to understand how the honda idle bypass valves wok. Will be controlling it all with an Emerald ECU.
  8. For anyone needing to do some shopping for tools & other bits & pieces to finish off those winter projects the following 2 shows at Stoneleigh may be of interest. I went to the Triumph show last year and there were plenty of trade stands etc. The shows are obviously aimed more at classic car restoration than kit cars but still lots of bargains to be had. Triumph Enthusiats Show - 12th Feb MG Enthusiasts Show - 19th Feb As I have a growing list of things needed to finish the Firefox upgrades I plan to go to the Triumph show on the 12th with a mate who has a TR8. Richard
  9. Barkston is great and I will definitely be going back for more. It would be great to get a long track day organised as well. £60 to £80 is a little more expensive than Barkstone but is still cheap for a track day and is very good value when you consider that with a well organised open pit lane set up you can easily get 120+ miles clocked up on track. It is also a completely different driving experience when you have to concentrate on some "traffic" both slower and faster cars to deal with unlike Barkstone which is single file only. Richard
  10. Like Megablade I can recommend Llandow - did a track day there earlier this year. Great liitle circuit that will test both car & driver. They normally run an open pit lane with max 10 cars on track at a time with normal track day rules like overtaking on the straights only, overtaking on the left only with consent of slower car............ Richard
  11. We fabricated our own steel mounts that bolt to the block, similar to Big Jim. They sit on top of a pair of Jaguar XJ6 rubber engine mounts that I got from a local auto jumble (nice and compact). I will have the hood at Donnington if you want to take a look - not sure which day though.
  12. http://www.autovaux.co.uk/ Autovaux can supply 82 degree thermostat - they are fitted as standard for hot country exports but not used in standard production cars in the UK
  13. Our Firefox has an MGF 1800 K series engine (non VVC) with caterham supersport cams and vernier pulleys (approx 150BHP) It is indeed front wheel drive and we had Michelin slicks on.
  14. In my local town (Evesham) there have been no queues at all, but just down the road at Redditch where I work the Tesco's station closed having sold out after 2 days of panic buying. Seems that if people see a queue they have an uncontrollable urge to join it! Lets hope things are back to normal by the weekend
  15. I had very similar problem on the Firefox after doing a track day at Llandow (Cardiff) - I spent ages checking athe tracking etc. turned out to be uneven wear on the tyres as a results of doing mostly right handed corners - new tyres fixed it.
  16. I don't know any more than I read on the Onyx web site but I assume it means any 4 wheeled car under 550KG could be driven by someone with a Motor cycle license.
  17. I certainly didn't buy it for its looks but it its damn fast as well !!
  18. This might be of interest to someone - I spotted it on the Onyx web site "A couple of customers have contacted us recently about buying Firefox Clubsports because they can drive them with only a motorcycle licence. This is because of a new EU ruling on 4 wheeled vehicles below 550 kgs. It is true, we have seen the letter of confirmation from DVLA. So bikers throw that Reliant Robin away and buy a Clubsport. One customer, 34yrs old was quoted less than £300 fully comp for insurance which just has to be brilliant. Ring us for more details."
  19. Stan Grove (my dad) was also driving the Firefox and he is still trying to come up with excuses for being 5 seconds slower than me !
  20. Number 11 and 11x - Onyx Firefox - 150BHP - slicks (is it true that we were supposed to have road legal tyres? whoops)
  21. Agreed it was a great day - watch out next year the Firefox should be at least 50KG lighter and if my budget will allow Throttle bodies and Emerald ECU should see a nice increase in BHP. 400BHP per ton is my target - with front whhel drive that wil be lots of fun
  22. My best time in May was 57.89 and the only change was the tyres - I was running slicks this time and that gave me at least 5 seconds a lap.
  23. Quote "car had loads of power(95mph down the straight)" Blimey - I was only just hitting 70mph down the back straight and my best time was 52.86 - you must have been really struggling round the corners. From my video footage I can see speedo reading just over 60mph as I was going round the fast right hander. Richard
  24. The G-tech meter is supposed to have a number of functions 0-60, quarter mile times, G-forces and BHP indicator. I have only ever tried the 0-60 but it was pretty accurate. As I was also missing the cigarette lighter socket I bought an adapter that can be attached directly to the battery terminals - crocodile clips on one end - cig lighter socket on the other. Just come and say hello in the pits if you want to try it. As at the last Barkston bash I will have the blue Firefox.
  25. I have a G-tech performance meter for recording for reasonably accurate 0-60 times. It just plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. I can take it along to Barkston if anyone wants to get a timing. I am pretty sure you can get upto 60 before the first chicane after the standing start.
