my laptop dies occasionally and is due to a bad Hard drive connector cable. It shuts down to prevent damage. Do you get a blue screen of death or does it just shut down?
Hi , Many thanks for that info , my screen sometimes just freezes (no blue devil screen ) but today it just turned itself off and maybe wants to cool down if it is the fan that has popped .
I will look in to Linux as i have known about it for years now , i think that i did try it many moons ago on one of many of my old comps that now reside in the attic where all old comps go to rest .

Hi , it lasted about 20 mins this time before turning itself off , i will have to check to see if the fan is ok .
I had thought that possibly the BIOS bat may be on its way out as it must be at least 5 years old if that means anything these days .
When it goes off i have one green and one amber light still on .
Many thanks to you both you have been a great help , so time to take the back off now and hope there are no dead mice in there !!!

Cant see how it would be any good as it would be being dragged by the air flow until one lifted off the throttle and only then would it give a little boost , so keep blipping the throttle maybe he he , but what do i know about windmills !!

(The only aircraft that comes to mind that was louder is the Vulcan, and there ain't many of them around anymore )
Well hold on to your hats as one Vulcan will possibly be doing a few shows this year , i think its the one that was stored at Newark for many years , i hope this one flies past my window here , if it does i will post a pic of it on here .
I am not far from Coningsby and on a low flying trainlng flight path i think by all the activity , no noisey A10 Tank Busters for a while now all gone south for the duration !!

Last year i changed mine due to the Alternator fouling the stering column , the belt that was on was a 10x863mm so i fitted a 10x850 , it was a very tight to fit on pulleys but it did the job fine as it gives room for adjustment once seated in the pulleys .
Hope this may help .

I had filler cap problems after i finished my rebuild and fitted a new shiny stainless steel cap , only managed a quarter of a mile before it started kangarooing , got it home and checked the cap and yes it was a non vented one so a quick mod sorted it out , no more problems now thankfully .
Hope you sort you probs out .

I had a vibration problem at about that speed on one of the front wheels of a Porsche which the garage could not sort out after they replaced a tyre due to them damaging the wheel , in the end it was water in the tyre due to a faulty air line water seperator or so they said but after refitting the tyre all was ok .

The track control arm on the MK1 bolts to the Sierra sub frame , if yours bolts to the chassis then its more likely to be a MK2 , check out my garage and you can see it clearer .

I use a Intek H-520 Plus Multi Standard Programmable Handheld CB which can be programmed for all European countries both FM & AM ,comes complete with car adapter that the external aerial cable also plugs into , not cheap though , my headset is a Alan MA 35 and this just plugs straight in and works great , this way its not left in the car to tempt the light fingered ones but instead goes in my pocket and used when i get lost walking around shows or hide in the beer tent .

On my 1996 Sierra S7 the headlights are bracketed off the bottom of the front the cross member angle , this way the suspension can be stripped without having to worry about the lights and wireing etc , this gives more room for the 7" headlights and sets them slightly lower , i dont think that this would conform to the current SVA regs though , due to there height .

The battery could well be on its way out , but all those contacts on it dont give one too much confidence of all making a good connection .
The rear power connector was replaced a few months back and seems ok at the moe .
It now seems to run longer running on the battery only ,before it locks up and with the power cable disconnected , possible due to it taking longer to warm up without having the higher power settings running whilst on battery .
