  1. Hope someone can assist and confirm my suspicions.... I run a Smiths telemetrix speed which gets the input from a revetoc speed sensor located at the front o/s wheel, at the rear of he sensor tree is a small LED which apparently should flash on rotation.

     

    My speedo suddenly stopped working on a run, and after further investigation I have discovered tat the LED is constantly lit, hence pointing me in the he direction if a faulty sensor....

     

    Is there anyone out there who be may be able to confirm my suspicions?

  2. Well everyone I owe you all a BIG thanks and I would if I could and that is buy you all a beer, it turned out to be the pump in the end, fit another pump tonight and it fired into life...... What a relieve this has been, totally stumped at the beginning, but with all the expert guidance from the experts on this forum I have managed to solve the problem.

     

    Again thank you ALL so so much, it has been very much appreciated.

  3. That should also be happening when the ecu energises the pump relay or can we assume there is a fuse in there somewhere that has blown?

    So replace the pump, check fuses and relay and away you go!

  4. Hi it happened to me when I had the car and i reloaded a map, it was a little temperamental but must admitt did run a treat, had some great fun creating my own maps.

     

    I would deffinately start with a new map I sod the car with a lap top holding loads if maps, s this the same lap top?

The nine is a 2ltr Blacktop, it is the in line high pressure pump, before the breakdown I would normally switch the ignition on and you cod hear the pump kick in and tick for a few seconds then it would start as soon as you pushed the start button. I have discovered that when I place a separate live and earth it goes to short out......... Which leads me to believe the pump is at fault?

  6. Does the engine run if you leave power connected to the pump? If so the signal from the ECU to the relay or the relay is at fault.

     

    When I placed a direct live from the battery to be pump and then try to connect a separate earth it shrts out, hence this is telling me my pump s faulty, which was replaced about 4weeks go. ..... Going o try my old pump back o tomoz, which has a slight el, but may prove a point, what o you think.......?

    Hi of course I will, t is very puzzling, may I also add tat yours is my old Robin Hood which has a megajolt ignition system, it was prone to losing its default map, do out have the ed and lap top to reinstate a map?
  8. No start after breakdown ..... Please help!

     

    Can anyone out PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME.. Took the Indy out on Wednesday night and it was running great, until about a mile from home, the engine just died without any indication.

     

    At first I thought it was out of fuel so directly went to get some fuel via he wife, anyway big do's and little do's it didn't respond, turned over but no start.

     

    Got I home and my first thoughts were the usual fuses etc. and the feed to the fuel pump. It was not doing the usual ticking but nothing. So checked the power to the pump and put the faithful test lamp on it and when you turn the ignition on it lights up then goes out. Put some live to he pmp and it runs.

     

    Is this a relay issue or ECU issue, I am totally baffled and really do need some help and guidance, so i would appreciate anyone who has any clues on his very worring concern?.

     

    The engine set up a fuel injected 2ltr Blacktop.

  9. just a quick help request...

     

    i have the GBS bike carb kit bought from stafford show on sunday.. i have fitted them and all is good ion tik over an revs free but it really really is over fueling.. to the point where i have frequent backfire and a trip to the shop eats a quarter of a tank of jiuce..

     

     

    can any ony point me in the direction of the fuel mixture screw for the carbs? i can seem to find it

    I run a set of Yamaha R1 Carbs combined with the same pump used on the bike on a 1.8 16V Zetec, had the carbs jetted to suit, they run at 2psi performance and fuel economy not really an issue.

     

    Mine runs in conjunction with a Megajolt Ignition System whichs really enhances the performance of the car.

     

    Do recommend the fuel regualtor.

     

    Perservere and you will be overwhelmed by the results.

  10. If your fitting the oil cooler you might as well fit a remote filter in the line as well. you get a cap for where the filter went = more clearance - job done :D

    Thanks any idea and direction where these can be purchased, obviously this will mean replacing the sandwich plate with a different fitting?

  11. lets hope there is someone out there who can help and guide me. I am looking at fitting an Oil Cooler to a 1.8 Zetec (XR3i) located in my 2B+, the oil filter I have on at present is very close to the steering column going through the engine bay to the rack, once I fit the sandwich plate the oil filter will then hit this column. Does anyone know if they produce a space saver filter which is shorter and if so where would I get such filter.

  13. I have noticed whilst messing with oil pressure gauges etc that whn I have removed the filter from the carbs it could do with a good clean, it is a pipercross of the sponge variety, any advise before I just go ahead and wash it?

  15. Got mine from Europa, eventually, if you have an oil pressure sender that is about 2" round then you need the longer, 50mm extension as the pressure sender is a different thread to the standard on off light.

    For some reason the bigger sender goes in the side of the brass adaptor and the original switch in the end.

    You can get an extender, a pipe with screww fittings either end and mount your senders off engine if you need the space, but you must earth them if off engine.

  16. I am fitting an oil pressure gauge to a 1.8 Zetec and wish to retain the oil light switch, to do this I will need some form of fitting that will carry both the switch to operate the light and the switch to operate the gauge, has anyone any ideas?
