The drives are available on internet if it has had it, about £120, Just measure length of cable you can get them made up, also on internet, search for speedo cables

speedo cable should connect to 90 drive, had one on mine to stop awkward bend in cable

i know he has v5 as it has been on the road legally, as i have seen it at our area meet, try getting in touch with him, he was going to canada with his job, caterpillar i think for a few months, ask him why he did not let you have it, you will not to sva it if you get it just an mot is needed, just need to tell dvla you have changed engine, has it got vin plate on it, should have if so may be worth getting in touch with dvla, saying bought car and did not get log book, assume you paid fair price for it, there is no reason for him to have kept log book, unless he is going to try and put it on another robin hood.

looking at pic of engine, have you a shortened sump, if not would suggest fit one before putting back in as ground clearance is very low on series 3

ive had a series iii for fifteen years, looking at pic i would suggest you strenghten the top angle iron bracket with another bolted underneath, as they tend to bend up over time, it was one of the mods to do

did you get log book with car, it is an early seven, i went to see it for parts, he said he was keeping log book so you may have a hard job on your hands
