    Zx6r Carbs

Thanks guys. Can i just check my understanding. When looking at the trumpets the hose on the left about 6mm is the anti ice-up thing, the 1 at the bottom in the middle about 8mm is the fuel in and the 1 at the top is a breather. If this is correct you have saved my bacon, as i guess fuel in where water should be is not a good idea!! Now to find a bike pump, anyone got a spare for beer tokens?? Cheers

    Zx6r Carbs

Hi Stuart Going to use the mechanical pump and a pressure regulator. Was going to use the bike pump but the costs and finding them is just not practical. Hope it works!

    Zx6r Carbs

Hi all. After some help. Final fitting of the fuel pipes to the carbs. From the tank to mechanical fuel pump is is 8mm. Then from pump to carb is the problem. The pump outlet is 8mm as expected but the carb is about 6.5 to 7mm. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it just a case of doing up the jubilee clip tight? Any experiences, views, thoughts and pictures all welcome Thanks Steve
  4. I have used a premier loom in a zero with a pinto and sierra stalks and we really easy to work with. Great instructions and help on the phone if you need it. Steve

    Hose Ends

Hi All getting to the stage were i need to get the engine started, but have an issue. The Pinto has a few hose outlets that i want to blank off. 1 that comes off the thermostat housing, 1 that comes of the inlet manifold and 1 by the water pump. The original rubbers have perished and are no good, but i can not find a suitable replacements anywhere. Does anyone know of a supplier or a good alternative. Did think about a bolt in the end of each one, but not sure this is the best idea. Ideas or info welcome. Thanks guys
  7. I can recommend the premier wiring loom. Just finished wiring my zero and the instructions are pretty clear.
  8. Thanks guys. The switch is knackered pin 50 should be the switched ignition live but nothing. First the indicator stalks were knackered and now the ignition switch. Why are these things never easy?? Thanks for the help Steve
  9. Hi Guys My electrical gremlins continue . I have traced back the problem to the ignition switch. On the switch i have 4 wires soldered on. Red - 15 Black/Yellow - 50 Yellow - R Nothing - P Black - 15 I have no power to pin 50, the black/yellow and as such nothing else is working from the ignition switch. Does anyone have a diagram of how the ignition switch works? I have managed to find that the power from the battery comes into pin 30 - Red, i guess this then switches depending on key position to 50 and 15 in turn. I have tested for voltage and nothing at 50 but get 12v+ from 30 and 15 when key is turned. How do i test if the switch is broken? Thanks Steve
  10. Thanks guys. Good to know i have a plan B if i need it. Cheers Steve
  11. Going to start hunting for some new column switches as mine are duff. I really like the focus/ fiesta stalks. They seem a bit shorter and a bit more modern looking. The questions really is can these be fitted to a sierra column and if so does the cowl still fit? Which model is best to use etc. I think the 2b superspec uses either focus or rover switches?? If anyone has a spare set of sierra switches that work that they are looking to sell/ donate please PM me. Beer tokens waiting. Thanks Steve
  12. Hi All The saga continues with my wiring! I am also 100% sure it is the switches that are broken but can you double check my wiring and let me know your thoughts. I have 83BG switches and a premier wiring loom. Dip switch 15 - Black - Headlight flash 56a - Brown/ White - Main beam 56b - Brown/ Yellow - Dip beam 56 Brown/ Black - Supply from light switch Indicator 54 - Black/ Red - Ignition supply L - Black/ White - Left turn R - Black/ Green - Right turn 49a White/ Black - output from flasher relay H30 - Red/ Blue - Permanent live 49 - Black/ Yellow - Supply flasher relay Lights 15 - Red - Linked to 30 s54 - Brown/ black - Linked to 56 on dip switch 30 - Red - non fused supply for head & side lights 58 - Slate - side & tail light supply to fuse box Not using wipers. Relays 87 - Yellow or White 86 - Brown/ Yellow or White 85 - Brown 30 - Red/ Yellow or White Thanks Steve
  13. Hi Rich I have the laminated sheet that Premier sent and the above matches my sheet and is how i have wired it up. Any idea on how to test if the stalks are working correctly? Thanks Steve
  14. Hi Guys. Some will know i am currently building a pinto zero. All was going well or so i thought. I am using a premier wiring loom and i have the following issues: 1 - rear lights always on. 2 - Hazards work but not indicators 3 - front lights and flasher do no work. Basically, before i connected up the battery i continuity tested the lights and indicators. No issues from what i can tell. Hooked up the battery and nothing, just the rear lights on permanently. I am using the standard sierra BG83 stalks and have checked the wiring 4 times, just in case i missed something. I took the stalks off the column to check the pin numbers but still no joy. Premier wiring guy recons the switches are broken but just want to check i am not missing something first. I have wired up the stalks as per below http://www.rhocar.org/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=11318 I have wired up the relays as follows: Main Beam - White to 87, Red/white to 30 Brown/white to 86 and brown to 85 Dip beam - Same but with Yellow tags Flasher - Already had 3 wires in relay holder. I have checked all the earths and these are good, and also shortcut the earths from the headlight to battery negative to check earth was good. Still no joy. Is there a way to check if the stalks are broken? or can someone see an issue with my wiring. Thanks in advance. Steve

    Alternator

Again an easy fix. Because i am not using a heater, i took the switched live that would connect this and ran to pin 3 on the alternator. The wire is just long enough. Another easy fix. As a recommendation, the Premier Wiring loom is so easy to work with and instructions are very clear. Thanks for the help.
  17. Turned out to be dead easy. The ETB oil gauge that screws into the block, has 2 spade connectors, 1 for oil warning light, the other for the gauge and it is labeled to tell you which is which. Simples.
  18. Thanks for the help guys. I think i will try Jez's option as this was what i was thinking as being correct. Cheers
  19. Hi Dave What I have is the loom plug from the standard sierra loom with the normal 2 wires but an extra brown wire. Wheee do you think is best to connect this. A chassis earth or to the body of the dizzy? Thanks Steve
  20. Thanks guys. Thought it was too easy but I like easy options. I should spot looking for the hard way to do things. Steve :-)

    Alternator

Hi All, me again. Final question, I hope. I have got a Denso Alternator as pictured below. I have connected the Ignition light (1) and the main positive (4), but number 3 is the one that has got me stumped. Where is this best taken from? Is there a wire in the engine bay already that can be used? or is this a case of running a whole new wire back to the fuse box? Thanks Steve
