Hi Trevor It's not that we think you don't have one, it's just nobody has seen it YET.We even called en-mass and the garage was bare("it's being rewired") You also kept the birthday rather quite at the weekend. Hope the Hoods easy to fix and we will see it shortly, or you will admit you haven't yet bought one. May even surprise you again and turn up to check. Mitch Come on get a pic posted

If you really want a 1.6 donor, give backword on the overall kit. The brake cylinders wont fit (1.6 and 2.0 are different), the oil is cheap, and a set of disks/pads is about £30 from local accesory shop. I bought one, but for £117.50 you will get the parts cheaper at youre local accsesory shop. Also My donor was a 1.6 pinto and it was a early J plate but they are quite rare. it later became a 2.0 before it was scrapped Mitch

Hi Julian The Northwest group are meeting at the Charnock Richard M6 southbound services on Sat at 2pm. If you're camping for the weekend, meet up and travel down with us the more the merrier. I think there will be at least 6 setting off from there with another to follow later in the day. You may be better of camping as last year, everyone that came on the day/s arriving after 10am had a very long wait to get in (some 2hrs). See you there Mitch

Hi Simon Since you have already put the figures down, phone RHE (Gina not Tech help line) and ask her for a letter on RHE headed paper stating the correct values. then on SVA day when the Fail on this point (and they will)you already have the letter to confirm the correct weights. Gina was very helpful when i phoned with this problem (after failing not just on this tho). If every thing else pass's and you fail on this it would be very annoying, it cant be that difficult for RHE to add a note to the paper work when collecting the kit that the values are incorrect. They do know about it as do every SVA centre. Mitch

If he can raise the values of built Robin Hoods, then i wish him luck. I think he's selling to save a fortune on polish Here's a reminder of how we know him best, either polish or beer in hand

Hi Jim I took you're advice and had mine done before fitting the engine, as per your article, (a friend did the welding for the cost of a few pints)and very glad I did as it might not have been my lower cross member that was catching/ ploughing the lanes on the recent Welsh trip and that would have meant 2 AA relay trucks for the trip home.

Hi Well the wedding has been and gone but unfortunatly because the use of the Hood was going to be a surprise i didnt think about the Insurance until i told the groom he could use it, and his Insurance company wont let him drive anything else, so he had to make do with a ride around the reception hotels car park. but here's a pick anyhow. and the drive back over the moor's this morning cured my hangover very quickly. Groom & best man driving Mitch

Hi All The Vicky Green loom is the new loom which you can get from RHE. For the Sierra wire's check out Jim Stotts web page under Build tip's, it list's all the clock wires and should help you wire up the dash. I think there are more than needed in the VG loom just wire the Sierra one's up. My dash works okay but i have fitted Capri clocks so not sure how many i didnt use. Hope this Helps Mitch

Hi Stu This is the way i did it and passed okay Just make sure the seats are bolted down securly on the floor, i used 5-6 bolt in each seat and a flat plate accross the car which the rear bolt's picked up on as wellas the angle on the front hole's. Hope this is clear Ps the thread is a special in the seat's but i think the bolt's that come with the harness fit(7/16 unf i think) Mitch

Im Sorry But i cannot take credit for organising this trip, I might have had the suggestion of a trip to Wales but the event was organised by Jim Robbo (and we missed the bus station even though he was seen to be eyeing it up for future trips) Mitch

Happy birthday Andy, but 40 go on you're having us on

Hi Ant My borrowed book (thanks Pete) say's 9.5mm. At my test i had a Polo heater knob protruding from the dash by 10mm and was asked to remove it. (not there cant test it) this was i presume type approved on VW's but must have been resessed into the dash on the Polo, it did have a 2.5 radius on but he still was'nt happy. Mitch

Yep I did happen 9 Hoods 1 jester 1 Suzuki Jeep and a 2.1 future doner car. I think Jim is doing a run report but it was an excellent weekend, It was my first real trip in my hood, it had only been on the road 4 days and was a tester for it. A few problems were raised like suspension far too low (now raised) and I broke down on the way, due to fan belt working loose and cutting through the bottom hose, but a detoure to Big Jims and all was sorted with a nice shiney down pipe from an old M/bike (thanks Jim). The weather was excellent and we turned many heads travelling enmass through the village's. Location is spot on and the SHORT walk to the pub helped with the appetites. Im sure it won't be the last time we vist the Big Country. Mitch Blackburn

While i was building my 2B i had a "build up" cover policy from Adrian Flux and they insured the car under the engine number. Im sure they could/would insure for road cover the same way until the chassi number was decided. Or just go ahead and make up youre number, stamp the chassi and use that. Mitch

Hi My niece get's married in a fortnight and the groom maybe driving my hood to the church (depend's on weather and how he drive's) I was also given the job of collecting the niece and her bridesmaids from the hairdresser's, but i have been banned from picking them up in the hood, (some people have no sense of adventure) Will post some pic's when time come's Mitch Blackburn

Seems to depend on were you live, my local DVLA is Preston and they decided i couldnt drive it there and they don't do visit's so had to trailor it there. They then fill out another little white form(exact one i filled out week before) to say which part came from were and which were new. I made up my own chassi number and this was'nt questioned something like RH2b then invoice number then my initials and the date i picked up kit ie RH2B1234MCG122001 as long as its unique then it's ok and if you use invoice number then it should be. if the DVLA is close to you it may be easier going and seeing who in charge the kitcar regestering (at preston it's left to one individual) so it all depend's on where you live, but i would advice on going for MOT to make sure everything's OK then DVLA then SVA and then finish the regestration and enjoy the ride's to them all. Hope this helps Mitch

Hi Rob If you ring RHE they should be able to send you a note on letter headed paper with the correct weights on. I also had the same problem and the guy at SVA said it is a common occurance. (why RHE cant give us a correct info on the paperwork it would save them postage) Give them another ring on the land line and ask Gina for one(letter that is or you may get a slap from wife tobe.) I got mine the day after phoning Anyone who is filling in there forms take note that the figure's should be 450 axle one and 550 axle 2. Good luck with the retest. Mitch Ps looked for my letter to forward on but it was kept at the retest.
