  1. I shall be just round the corner failing an mot in the mx5 so will pop round possibly. Unless I pass the mot then its off up to mx5city for 4 of their finest coilovers and a new hood.

  2. Seats are easy in the zero because the floor is welded to the chassis drill the holes and put big washers on each bolt. assuming a fixed seat position get 4 studs or cut the heads off some m8 bolts and put them loosely in the bottom of the seat a dab of tippex on the ends and place seat into position to mark the holes. Then drill put the seat in with the studs then remove a stud one at a time and replace with bolt and washer.

  3. I think you should trim the dash not the chassis. Lowering the column in the cabin will raise it in the engine bay causing all sorts of issues. Remember tha the dash in the region of the column will be covered by the cowl so not seen. Enjoy your garage day.

  4. You will only be able to get an age related plate if using a certain number of parts from a doner vehicle this will be demonstrated by submitting with your application for registration the V5 of the doner and a declaration of the parts used (certain steps omitted for clarity).

Since you will be using new parts or parts from an unknown source a new reg or a q plate are your only options.

If you choose a new reg it will require a cat to be fitted, vehicles that are required to have a cat on registration (ie new reg, not Q or age related plate before 1992) will now (since 2014) not pass an MOT without a cat being fitted even if they can pass the full cat emissions test at MOT.

As far as I'm aware GBS have a silencer with a cat fitted so the look is not compromised.
