When the ignition is on it should only be the big wire that's connected on this alternator with
a ring connector and nut that is live and the two small wires (ignition wire & dash light)are live
only when the engine is running.Well i seem to have the small ignition wire live with the ignition
switched on and not running.I wonder if that's why the alternator got hot.I'm probably not explaining
this very well but what do you all think now.
Richard.

Could i have the two small wires on wrong way round do you think. The battery drained
very quickly

To anyone who has'nt asembled their gbs pedal box yet be careful to check
that the short pieces of tubing welded to each pedal where the plastic bushes
are fitted may not be properly round due to the heat of the weld pulling them out of shape.
This makes it very hard to get the bushes to fit correctly.
I have a blacksmith friend who is going to reem them for me.

please please can anyone tell me why my series 2,2ltr pinto powerd car conks out after half an hour
on the road. turns over like the battery is flat then starts normally after 15 mins sitting.
I'm pretty sure its electrical and have heard a faulty coil can cause this.

Question for you folks. After driving about 20 miles engine starts misfiring and cuts out, when i try to restart its like
the battery is flat turning over very slow. After waiting for 15,20mins engine fires up and runs perfect.Drive another
20 miles same again.I run a series 2 with a 2ltr pinto on a 32/36 carb. Similar thing happen to me about 30 years ago
with a mk2 escort. That time it was caused by the coil heating up. The coil felt quite warm in the hood but theres a lot of
heat under the bonnet as i'm sure you'll know.Any ideas?
Cheers
