  1. Ive just been offered £4000 for my part finished 2b, to be perfectly honest id love to sell it as i can only get 1 day per week to work on it and i desperatly want a holiday with my girlfriend. but a part of me would still love to have the finished article in my garage. is this the right kind of price for a car in this state? look at my website for pics of it. cheers steven
  2. Just wanted to say a big thankyou to all the lads that came up to mine on saturday, for the boost in my morale, and for the ride out in jims hood. im off to the gulf on saturday so i hope to see you all again in july when im back. sorry if i cant remember everybodys name but it was great seeing 6 hoods in the yard. steven ps. jim, ive now fitted the radiator, after seeing how some of the lads have done theirs, ive fitted mine on the angle and started making the shroud.

  4. bill that would be good, im always on the lookout for visiting other hoodies and seeing their creations. just found out the det has been shortened so hopefully, should be back about the end of june. cant make newark this year as im doing a 2 day rally over that weekend but meet up another time. steven
  5. bill no, im at waddington in lincs, im on the 'rod R1 not the MR2 up in kinloss steven
  6. bill ive never worked on tonkas. im on the nimrod r1 at the min but spent 2 years on harriers. they are made of nearly all carbon fibre and at cottesmore there is a carbon fibre bay where they make the new panels. one of the lads in there has a yamaha r1 and has removed all the panels including fuel tank and pegs and made them of carbon. looked really good and he said he would do me a dash but as he has now moved on and so have i, i will have to get a new contact in there. i do know a civvie that works with carbon and in the future will be making me a crabon nose and arches in exchange for using my car for a mould so he can sell them on. i might sell them on here for him(when my membership has been processed) steven

    Radiator Angle

thanks for the replies lads, im going to have a scour round the scrappys and see what i can find that will fit up front and vertical. i forgot to mention that im fitting a vauxhall 2l 16v but i dont know whether that makes any difference as it is still the same size as a pinto. steven

    Radiator Angle

Does anyone know how much of the radiators efficiency is wasted by mounting it at 45 degrees like RHSC suggest? also what is the smallest radiator that you could fit that would have, if any, the same efficency due to it being mounted vertically and closer to the front grille. cheers in advance for the tips steven

    7 Styling In Cad

  10. Bill, did you used to be in the RAF? im in the raf now and its a pain when you are a kit car builder as ive got to go the gulf for a couple of months as of a week on monday. aswel as only getting home at weekends to work on the car. steven

    Acceration

Why spend thousands on a pinto to get it up to 135bhp when you can pop in a vauxhall C20XE and get 155bhp standard then 180bhp with webber 45's. all in all this mod costs less than a grand and it is a far superior engine. i'm fitting this engine from new as the 1600 sierra engine was worth more as scrap than as an engine. you will also get a far more reliable engine by keeping it nearer to standard, then you have a good platform to start modifying from, as a vauxhall with 45's and nitrous is 260bhp.

  14. true. i once went back down to see Richard and collect a new side panel and a VG loom, i told him i was realy pleased how things were going on my car and it seemed to cheer him up as he spends most of his time being moaned at for "not making it fit very well" i say good work to all at RHSC for providing us with, pound for pound, one of the best cars you can buy
  15. ah i now see how far away you are!! maybe its better left to somebody a bit closer. thanks for the offer though steven

    Column Wiring

the wire is power for the relays which you need for the later column switches that have thinner wires and cannot handle the current from the main beam an such like. im sure an '89 snegga had this later type of loom. you can tell by matching the wire colours on the diagram. if you have the same colours as the diagram at the top it is the early loom and doesnt need this wire, if they are the same as the one at the bottom then you need the relay pack. this is just 2 relays and a blade fuse holder with a 10 amp fuse. just ask if you want any more details
  18. forgot to mention, a few beers your way will definately be in the deal
  19. i'd be interested in taking away your 1.6 as i based my 2b on a 1.6 and had to scrap it sooner than i should have, now im missing loads of bits and im gutted. im fitting a 2 litre 16v vauxhall engine so hope the brakes are up to that!!
  20. what about fitting a bias valve but hiding it from the sva inspector so you can tweek the rear brake bias and leave it set correctly?
  21. thanks for the advice, wont bother fitting it then.
  22. yeah but i spent hours fabricating a floor mounted pedal that incorporates the servo under the carbs, it would be a shame to ditch it. While we're on the subject of brakes do i need to put the proportioning valve in as im thinking of leaving it out due to the trouble people have with it
  23. cheers, will i need to fit a one way valve or does the servo incorporate one? steven
  24. hi, i'm building a 2b and fitting the vaux 2.0 16v on 45's, the problem ive got is after making a floor mounted brake pedal so i can keep the servo i now have no where to get a vacuum from for the servo, anyone have any ideas?? cheers steven
