    Brakes

Hi Will did my brakes B4 xmas, took about a bottle and a bits worth (the ones supplied by RH). I did buy a pressure bleeding kit that claimed to have a universal fitting for the resovoir lid ...... unfortunately the 4 lids in the kit didn't fit the girling res I have :boohoo: (there was a note telling me I could go on-line and buy other lids)..... so I enlisted my son and did the brakes the old fashioned way . Goodluck matey e

    Help Please...

Hi thanks for all the input guys, very much appreciated. Better do a bit of practising first tho Friar - I'm moving the handbrake to along side the gear lever, so want to weld a bracket to the inside of the tunnel where it flares open to accommodate the gear box - loads of space on the passanger side, and I've got a nifty straight hand brake lever. cheers e

    Help Please...

Hi thanks guys for the info. Yep it is welding on the chassis - but not structural (fortunately). I'll start checking out if there's anyone local who can help - failing that I may well have to contact a local welding outfit. cheers e

    Help Please...

Hi can anyone advise on the issues with welding SS? I've got a mig welder thats fine on mild steel, but a freind was saying that Stainless is a problem to weld. I realise I'd need Stainless rods, but he was saying thay have to be the same grade as the SS i'm wanting to weld, and something about having to use a different gas in the MIG ??? any pointers greatly recieved cheers e

    Well I've Started

Yeah thats right Nigel, the one componant in this case being the rear axle. So lots of piccy's of the recon work and reciepts etc. Hey Dredd - did you get dvla sorted yet? e

    Well I've Started

Hi Guys Yes I'm a super-spec'er. All they've done is shot blast the rear axle then prime it, the rest is up to us to check out. Although you would expect them to be a little bit more thorough But I haven't seen any of the other guys with SS's talking about this problem, mebbe I was just lucky Just phoned Richard and he's sorting out a replacement. Didn't seem too keen to start with, till I described the gratering noise coming out of it when I twirled the propshaft flange "Ah... yes, you probably do need a replacement for that then" he said e
  12. Well I actually made a start on the kit on saturday. Rear axel off and stripped down. Got the new bushes inplace on the trailing arms - noticed rust on the lower outboard welds few pin holes in the weld - so gotta do something with that. Then came the draining of the diff ..... bung out .... no oil, strange smell of old burnt stuff ..... and a magnatised piece of metal and thick grey goo that seemed to be full of iron filings that cant be good ! Trip to RH for a replacement diff on thursday. But at least I HAVE started it now.... e
  13. Hi Dredd fantastic result.. now we know these things can pass ... do you get a prize from Richard for being first passed the post e

    Good Luck Tommorow Friar

Hi Sorry to hear about your result Friar!! next time tho eh I have to agree with dredd, seems to be a few things Richard could do with sorting out, yeah I know I havent even started my build yet but when I collected it he must have said at least twice about not fitting the windscreen! And in the new video (Super Spec - Introduction) he bangs on about it too "even tho' it is SVA compliant I would not recommend you fit it before your test" Anyways..... I know you guys will be all fully legal super-duper drivers before long.. ... probably even before I've started - that kitchen floor's a bugger to lay e
