Luckily, only the oil filter torn off. A quick phone call to the brother in law and atrip to Halfords for a filter and oil and we were back on the road again.......much wiser

Not easy to shorten unlike a sump is there an easy way of putting a strong guard under it? Because sods law dictates that it will be the housing casting next time or the time after that. Also how much of a job would it be to mount a remote filter on the same lines as some of the BMWs so as to get it right out of the way.

I was thinking of remote filter, shortly afterwards! I assume it is something that I would need to find as an after market part somewhere.

I've seen a remote filter kit in the Europa catalogue.

 

Alternatively, in true Hoody fashion, why not cut open the oil filter, and weld it up shorter with a boxy extension on the side

It looks like it’s a common mod on V8 Landover as This lot sell kits to do the job but also have a selection of heads to accept a normal filter so "all" you have to do is pipe it up.

its easy to forget about those humps if your enjoying the drive dredd,but it could have been worse,id definatly look at a remote oil filter mate,

Dredd. It gets easier I’ve just been looking at the same site that have the remote heads and they do an adaptor that fits directly on to the filter housing with takeoff for the pipes and is only 2.5" high

Sumps £20 Terry i've bust three but thats from the scrappy who is running out of pinto sumps

sump could be slightly more on the SSpec,
