Sva Test

Perfectly legit. His speedo should now read 72 at 70mph. SVA compliant and I prefer my speedo to read a couple of mph faster than I'm realy going. Gives a tiny extra margin for those sneaky road safety cameras!

Phil, I thought you were having the retest on friday. What happened? Sorting the speedo first?

Back at the sva centre tomorrow. Have let the tyres down does anyone have any info re tyre pressures if Mr SVA man asks?

Spoke to the examiner and he confirmed that putting on the sierra wheels would make matters worse so will be putting back on the RH ones tonight.

If it fails this time it will only be the speedo reading. At this stage dont want to start taking out the instruments and taking off the needle bound to break it.

If anyone has any last min suggestions please let me know.

Phil

sorry, but is it me being a bit dim?

if you are using the original speedo, gearbox, wheels and axle from a donor that were a matched set before being fitted to your hood how can it make matters worse?

they would have been ok before so should be ok now

Maybe they were inaccurate before... the needle may have moved during storage or perhaps it's due to the different cable run.

Also in my sliding pillock the RH supplied Dash & Stalks were from a Mk5 Escort so maybe he has that too.... :)

Hi, Phil got some donor parts from RH and we presume the rear end is from a 1600, but he's got the 2000 injection engine, gearbox and instruments from a donor. This maybe the problem!!!! I'm sure time will tell.

By the way Phil, if you're really stuck, I could lend you my dif, but you've got to help me remove it and re-fit it.

Good luck

Find someone running low profiles that you can swap wheels with maybe if you end up failing again.... Be easier than swapping the diff over!!

Try this http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html to find the right size.... 185 50 14 (XR2i Fiesta) or 195 45 14 should do it.

The 1600 will have a 3.62 diff most likely & the Injection came with a 3.92 diff as standard 8% different so that'll be why he's failing by a small margin... (some of the difference is taken up by the "over read safety margin" that's built in)

You can also change the gear wheel in the back of the clocks, Peter Bell knows how to do that I think...

Good Luck.

Dan :)
