I quite fancy fitting one of those Acewell 3150 digital speedo/tacho/etc..etc

It also has the option of a fuel gauge, all it says in the write up is

"fuel sensor resistance 100 ohms" does anyone have any idea if I`d be able to get

the fuel gauge working in my series 3a?

Cheers

I have one of these units fitted to my car.

They are a good bit of kit for the price.

I have the unit with fuel gauge but don't use it. At the time of fitting i did't know what sender to fit. They don't supply one.

Apparantly an old VW beetle sender unit works at 100 ohms and am aware of people using it to good effect.

Cheers Nige,

Info most appreciated, I`ll have a look into

the VW sender unit.

Where abouts did you fit the the magnet and

sender for the speedo?

And does the rev counter work ok?

Thanks again

I attached the magnet to a rivnut/avdel which was glued to a rear drive shaft. The sensor was mounted on an L-shaped bracket that was bolted to the Diff.

The Rev counter is a bit hit and miss. The sensor wire is wrapped around an HT lead. It is not really accurate all the time.

Cant seem to attach pics. Will try later.

I have just measured the resistance of the sender supplied with my 2B, looks like a sierra one but a bit shorter (never used it because it was too short to reach the bottom of the supplied tank  ), someone on this forum will know what they were from!

The resistance readings were, 22ohms full / 125ohms empty.

This is not a million miles away from what you need.

Cheers Nige, been away just read your post I`ll keep an eye on that.

Regards fuel sender, interesting about resistance on Sierra one, is it possible

to change resistance rating on sender by lobbing something inline( excuse my

technical jargon I am an electrics numpty)

that would only work at full or empty, everything else would be wrong

apparently older landrovers were also 100ohm but i cant confirm that for myself

i am lookin for either 100ohm or 500 ohm for myself

You obviously know more about this than me (although to be

honest that wouldn`t be hard)

If you do find one that works at 100 ohms let us know.

Cheers
