3rd Fan Speed Not Working On A 1995 Escort

Hi Folks,

 

The Mrs's Escorts 3rd fan speed on the internal blower has packed up. So clearing the window on these cold mornings is nigh on impossible.

 

What's the most likely cause?

 

1) Switch on the dash

 

2) Fan motor

 

3) Fan heater resistor (I believe this is mounted on the blower housing? How do you get at it?)

if by 3rd, you mean the fastest, its most prob the switch

the resistors only do the slower speeds

my dads transit fan only works on the fastest speed and my sisters orion fan stopped working so we put a switch to the middle speed, must be a ford thing sadly i dont know the answer either but look forward to finding out....

With my old golf and two vw vans it has always been the switch that dies. It's an annual event so I try to keep a spare handy.
