Andi,

any garage that does mot's will have a beam checker to help you get them right

if your still building, i wouldn't worry too much, you'll probably knock them out of line too many times to mention anyway

 

they're not difficult to adjust though anyway ;)

You can make a fairly good guess at the height. Measure the height of the centre of your lamps. Find a flat area with a wall and park up about 3metres away from it. Mark a horizontal line at the height of the lights and a perpendicular to the lights. The dip beam cut-off should be a bit below the line and the join to the raised left side of the beam should be just to the left of the centre point for each light. As you can see I haven't a clue what the precise measurements should be but you end up with a pattern like the pic.

Place your everyday car in a specific spot and mark the beam patterns on a flat surface. Then place your Hood (headlights) in the same place and adjust until they are the same.

 

Works assuming your everyday car is adjusted correctly :rolleyes:
