Hiya all.i recieved this from Hmce so i dont think its fraud..but i thought id let you all know about it..i had to cut top off ..VAT info

with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,' regardless of

who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which

'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be

received from someone

who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the

reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts It is

better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and

open it.

If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a

friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately.

 

This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by

Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was

discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this

kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard

Disc where the vital information is kept.

just keep your virus checkers uptodate and dont allow things to run that you dont know what they are. If you use any of the bigger email services - hotmail etc they will stop most of the nasty things as a matter of course. My brother tried to email me an attached Visual Basic script and hotmail removed it automatically. We had to zip the file to allow it through. It'll generally ask whether you want to show images attached now as well.

 

Its amazing what things get emailed around. Apparently we shouldnt microwave plastic or even freeze it as it will make your food carcinogenic instantly or not and there are an amazing number of women that want to be my friend and meet me

 

ive got into the habit of the guys above of a quick google search to spoof check. thanks for thinking of us though

 

 

oh yeah always mouse over a hyperlink before clciking on it and check the address it points to is the actual address displayed! It should show in your status bar.

The best thing to do with any of these "warnings" is to Google it, it will come up with possible reasons and whether its a hoax or not, I had a friend format his Hard drive cos of one.

Why do people believe everything they read, and then spread it, because they can not be bothered to spend 1 minute researching (google search) about the said item?

However, there is a nasty worm going around at the moment called confiker so make sure your OS and Virus updates are up to date.

 

As a general rule. If you send on chain letters, jokes or warnings to people, it's good practice to remove the sending history and forward as BCC to try and avoid ending on spam lists.
