Master Cylinder

Thrashed

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I think my master cylinder is duff. Very notchy when applying the pedal.

Thinking of a rebuild but have no idea which type I have. Only markings are FORD and 22 in big numbers.

Is it easier to rebuild or switch to something like a ford ka as these seem much cheaper new and about the same price as a repair kit.

This for a gbs zero.

Thanks

Thanks Grim

Checked for fouling first as that's what it felt like but definitely not catching. Good call as it was my first though. Any idea how to ID the master cylinder?

Thanks

If it says Ford 22, then it's more than likely a Bendix cylinder with a 22mm bore. Try this if you need a replacement...

Steve,

Just been having a peruse through your build pictures mate. It's looking really good and

you seem to be nearing the finishing post, great stuff. :good:

With regard to the notchy feeling you have, could it be the pushrod you have is

binding / fouling on the side wall of the cylinder bore as it enters it??

Only in the pic it seems to be at an hell of an angle??

One thing i did notice though Steve... Have you got a backstop for the brake pedal?

If you haven't i would strongly recommend you fit one mate as the pushrod can fall out the

master cylinder if you pull the pedal towards you. :shok:

Nick.

Good spot Nick.

Thanks. Feels like I am gettin close to the end.

No back stop yet but on the list to do. Was taking a closer look at the pedal this afternoon and you might be right as the paint is rubbed off. But this means the pedal is too low??? Or the m/c is too high??

Any thoughts.

Cheers
