Hi all

2.1 Pinto running at around 90 degrees, which I believe is too hot. Any suggestions where I can source a thermostat to make it run a little cooler. I've been told 75 is an ideal

Cheers

Paul

90 isn't worryingly hot, is it stable at that temp? Have you got any spare capacity in your cooling system to cope with sitting in a traffic jam? Running a 13lb rad cap will put your boiling temp up to about 115 degrees.

You can also duct the air through the rad and make sure your grill isn't stopping air flow

My vauxhall 2B runs at 90, can rise to 97 in standing traffic, then the fan kicks in and brings it back down to 90, that's with a very small Seat Marbella radiator

there is an 81deg stat available carn't quote a part number till I've been in the garagelater ,I think it's listed for the CVH Orion will post again later BTW it's what I run with RS 2000 rad on suck and blow system on a mild 2.1, temps run at 80 to 95 mainly just under 90 no probs HTH mowerman [mick] :good:

Temp guages fitted to cars are not the most accurate instruments in the world. I think I have an 82C stat in mine but indicates 75 on aftermarket guages (matched sender/guage). I wouldn't worry too much unless you are overheating. As said above, make sure you've got the best airflow you can get through the rad and have a reliable leccy fan. HTH, Brian
