Am I crazy enev thinking about making my own loom or is it just a long process

 

I thought about one of these and making the wiring my self

 

 

 

 

Has anyone mad there own looms

i made my own but it took a very long time and lots of brainache!

Far too much work in my opinion, but it would give u great satisfaction and fault finding should not be too bad as you know ur loom inside out. But I have bought a loom from premier and its a good starting point

lool, depends on how quickly u want car finishing and how handy u are at electrics. I have a zetec in mine. I used premier loom for my car loom. For engine loom am having some help. :rofl:

I don't think it's as hard as you think, as. Long as u have diagrams for the awkward bits ie stalks it will be easy enough think it through draw it out then get chopping and soldering. I will be doing my own when and if I build in the future

It's wetted my teeth now I'm going to have a shot at it.

I chopped the wiring to the stalks just before the multi plug so I have a fully wired stalk set up it's just engine bay and Intraments oh and lights

 

Some good diagrams would be helpful

Built (wired?) our own loom,used all Sierra donor wires,fusebox/relays;biggest prob. was that the column switches had an intermittant fault which took ages to find. We stripped the old loom down to single wires & started from scratch;glued/screwed minitrunk to each side of chassis going forward from dash & PVC tube (sierra sunshine roof rain-water pipe)to rear. All still working O.K 4months after IVA.

i put together my own looms, using 7 core trailer cable.

seperate looms for front & rear lights, engine etc.

 

never done any car electrics before this, just took it one circuit at a time and checked all still worked after

each new one.

very satisfying when it all works, and very cheap

Is trailer wire heavy enough for the head/dip lights or did you use relays after the 7 core?
