some of you know i am well into my hacking, only to protect my self from others and my neighbours, hacked all of there to make them secure which i tell them about face to face that i am going to do it.they are happy with it as they know they will be secure. then add funny passwords (dont tell them face to face about them thats normal done with a bit of paper through the letter box so i dont get lintched )

 

as every one has wifi now days it has been at the heart of hackers and they have done it again, you can download a program (i wont name which 1 google is good for that) that will now hack your passwords in less then 10 hours this may seem like a long time but left over night to run, why you and they sleep and when they wake up they have access to all your detals ie online bank detials and all passwords via your router. WEP security has been broken for years now that why all new router come with WPA/WPA2 security as this hadnt been broken yet, but it has to a certain extent. it only affects if you have a key access on your router to make paring up easer this is made you of 8 numbers,it dosnt afect it you only have a passphrase ie numbers or leters or a mixture.(this can be broken but can take years and i mean years)

it only afects about 20% of routers but its worth checking just to make sure.

 

if you look on the back of your router and it saids passphrase and underneath passkey you can be hacked very quickley.

if you have this and the first number is a 1xxxxxxx then it will take about 1hr if your numbers starts with a 2xxxxxxx it will take about 2hrs and so on.

if all you have is passphrase they you are ok (to a circtain extent, if some 1 want to try for years let them probley by the time they get your password you would of ither moved or had a new router)

 

you can disable this by loging into your router,to do this on the back of your router there is a web adress ie 192.168.1.1 enter the adress into your brouser ie internet explora then log in with user name and password which is located on the back of the route and normaly in adv settings there is a tick box saying 'brodcast wps pin' untick this box and you will be safe (on most routers anyway)you may need to enter in your passphrase again into your phones/ laptops

please check this has only been out for a couple of months now and i dont want any1 on here getting done by some 1

sorry i dint make that clear once they have access to your router they can see when you access it (turn your pc/laptop on) and then can launch another program to get your passwords.i didnt want to go into to much detail with that but you dont have to store passwords on your pc to get them, there is many other ways to get them ie keyloger or rainbow tables to name a few i just wanted to make a point once they have access to your router they can get anything they want. i have used key logers and rainbow tables (on the other half just dont tell her tho) and you will be quite surprised what your computer logs without you knowing this is only from my own experiance

Jono... mines on WEP, but the key is alpha numeric, so by what you say mine is safe??

if its WEP yours is defently not safe, WEP can be broken within 10min, you need to change your settings to WPA or WPA2 if surported by ur router by loging into ur router if it dosnt surport WPA then you need to phone up ur survice provider and ask for a new router

When you are on the Web - look out for https in the address bar AND look for the locked padlock usually on the bottom line of the web browser. If you DON'T see these - DON'T continue.

 

And I agree that WPA and WPA2 is the right way to go - Don't use WEP.

total agree thats what i allway look out for and to combate against key logers i use the virtual key board that is found in many internet security programs

i woulnt use WEP or WPA/WPA2 wps only WPA/WPA2 AES

i would defently ither login to ur router and change the security or phone up ur survice provider and ask for a new router

Noted about the AES over WPA. Key loggers though are usually trapped by your UP TO DATE anti virus programs.

 

Also make sure that your firewall program is turned on and blocking dial in attempts from unknown origins.

 

The big three things to make sure about are

1) up to date anti virus (I use Avast or AVG)

2) Firewall on and working

3) Wireless security on and most secure.

 

Oh, and don't run ANY program from the net without scanning it first.
