How Much To Cut Of T9 Gear Box On Starter Housing Zero

Hi there,

 

I need to cut some of the bell housing on the type 9 gear box to fit it correctly in the zero. does anyone have a picture of how much they cut off??

Heres a pic for you. I cut it off with a 9" grinder then blocked it flat. Drilled and tapped the created face M4 and bolted on an alloy offcut as a dust shield.

Just done the same with mine.

You will also need to trim down the mounting hole and starter motor boss just in front of the picture, or you wont be able to line up the engine centrally. I shaved about 4mm off.

yes i shaved that off and now it has just enough room tight fit thou

Make sure there is a gap between the gearbox and the chassis rail. Simon at GBS said that he had a car fail because the gearbox was too close to the chassis rail. I don't know what gap is required but I suspect 5mm would be minimum at a guess.

yea i would say i have about 5mm gap now :)
