Starter Motor Wiring Help...what's Wrong!

In second pic the red battery cable is just to the right of the connection for the other side of the solenoid coil, so probably the coil is permanent live & your small flying lead needs an earth (negative) to energise the coil. Seems wrong but that's how it appears.

I think Chris is right the large copper term is battery live the second copper should feed to the motor

 

think you have the smaller copper term not wired to motor feed

 

The small non copper is the swithed live ignition feed Normaly maked S
