Coil Pack

I have got to mount coil pack on bulk head does anyone know weather I have got to run another earth cable to it cos bolted direct to head originally

No I have done exactly the same thing and car runs perfect

Bear in mind like me it's prob bolted to a metal L bracket to a metal bulkhead !!!

I don't think a modern coil needs an earth as such but a riveted fire wall will be fine.

Mines bolted to a removable panel that' has a rubber trim around it and I've had no problems at all but maybe someone knows different??

No, the body of the coil pack is electrically isolated from the inner workings.

 

(You would want that to be the case with 50,000 volts or thereabouts knocking around in it)

 

The coil packs have isolated input and outputs. It is just effectively a large transformer and you don't ground them.

The grounding is done via the spark plugs

Power into middle pin, switch to earth outer pins this makes the field collapse and earth high voltage from spark winding through spark plug
