Iva Regs Regards Fuel Tank

I'm currently in the process of mounting my fuel tank in my 2b I have an larger than standard big brothers aluminum tank my plan is to have tabs welded on so I can bolt the tank direct to the chassis with rubber mounts (for reducing and major vibration) instead of going down the normal route of strips of stainless and rubber and it all looking messy.

 

My question is will it pass an Iva with a bolted fuel tank instead of strapped cheers

I don't think straps are a requirment, I believe GBS just use some adhesive on their tanks. Can't see an issue with a bolted tanks.

don't know about iva but mine passed SVA with my tank bolted with 2 tabs top back through the wood floor. I think i also put 2 tabs vertical with a bolt into the rear tubes of the chassis but can't quite remember. I also put my tank on some plastic spacer as it wasn't sitting flat on the bar and i wanted to spread the load.

Fantastic just means I can keep it all neat and secure without looking a mess, not that you'll see it but if I'm gonna do a job it will be done right.

You will be fine for IVA but you will need to fit an earth strap between chassis and tank.

Yeah I've already had a mount welded to the tank for the earth strap :-)
