Robin Hood On Ebay

I've sent the owner a message politely querying the registration and pointing out he may wish to provide more details if he feels it is correctly registered, will see what I get back. Please note I have linked the owner to the forum just in case they were also an unsuspecting buyer who doesnt know better.

The period of grace refers to the cars registration being updated. Pre-SVA most people built the cars, had the MOT and started using them without updating the V5. When SVA was introduced the already built cars had to have the V5s updated, if they didnt have them done by a certain time, they then required to go through SVA, or now, IVA. The below is what I sent to the seller, which explains this as best I could in the few characters ebay allows. Still no reply though.

"You say the V5 lists the car as a 1974 Ford? Could you confirm for me what model of car it say it is?

This kit pre-dates the SVA (Now IVA) test, but did require that the V5 was updated to reflect the new status of the car. if it still shows as being a Ford Escort/sierra/etc then I am afraid it is not registered correctly and should not be used on the road until such time as it has been through the IVA test and correctly registered.

I am sure that if the car is not registered correcty that this is news to you, and should you wish to do any research into the matter the best place to do so for the car you have is www.rhocar.org which is the owners club for Robin hood cars.

If however, the V5 has been updated and so may be reads as Ford Kit Car or similar, then thats great news and may be worth including more detail in your advert because as it stands a number of buyers will look past your car thinking it is possibly incorrectly registered.

Hope this helps, and good luck with the sale."

173bhp i bet he doesn't have the dyno graph to back that up. I'm not a pinto man but that engine must boost the value of the car by a few grand ? If its a standard engine the buyer could be out buy 40bhp gutted !
