Cold, noisy, draughty, uncomfortable ride, basic controls, and a need for constant driver concentration.

However, heaps of fun in the right place.

We had a series 1 at / recovery truck where I worked as an apprentice, you would see the mechanics go and hide when a breakdown came in because they all hated it that much.

 

I remember having to tow it back to the workshop with a customers car that we had been out to because it had snapped another half shaft.

First thing I ever drove was an 80inch 1949 series 1, I was about 12 at the time and it was my dads trialer. We used to drive up and down the country towing it pn a trailer with a series 1 107 packed to the rafters with camping gear for mum dad and us four kids. My dad had a real sense of adventure and sure needed it on some of those trips!! Happy days
