Brake Servo. Iva?

Evening all.

Hope your all well.

Haven't been on in a long time so i will spare all the details but the Superspec went in for IVA today.

Needless to say it failed. Again won't spare the list but there are a few bits and bobs.

So my question is. During the test the tester noted that i had a brake servo that came with the kit wasn't connected to the engine.

Now i have a Zetec on Jenvies so no plenum chamber to generate a vacuum.

So the options are.

1. Remove the servo and master cylinder and replace with just a master cylinder.

2. Find some way of keeping the servo and Jenvies.

Or some other option that my muddled head can't think of.

If anyone has any ideas whatsoever they would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Joe

as duck said you can take a vacuum feed off the inlets, because its not necessary for a smooth signal you could get away without making a vacuum box or mini plenum too

Correct. It has to be after throttle butterflies. Manifold is usually easiest place.

You could just connect one for test, then remove and block of.

If you want to keep your servo long term your best bet is a plenum connected to all tb's.

ok so my next question.

Area all ford check valves that enter the servo the same?

I can find a load of them all over the net but cant seem to work out which is right for my servo.

Again any help greatly appreciated

Many Thanks

Before you start drilling manifolds!

Why not consider another option of fitting an alternator from a Ford Transit or Vauxhall Corsa that has a vacuum pump on the rear of the unit.

Take a vacuum pipe from that to the servo, job done.

Martin.

That is a grand idea and maybe one for the future.

But for the minute im going to stick with the drilling into the manifold idea.

It seems drastic but in the end will mean less work in the long run as i wont have to modify wiring, brackets and all sorts of other gubbins that ive looked at.

Still trying to find the correct bloody check valve / gromet that enters the servo mind.

Thanks for the idea tho

Many Thanks
