I've pm'd snapper. I've also emailed piper tonight after your comments to see if I get a different answer to the one the chap there gave me! He said their Rally cam part number was OHCBP300.

Bob, just tried Kent Cams again and this time got a chap who has been there years! He knew it straight away, it's an old cam which was sent out to engine developers but has the same spec as their new GTS3 version. He reckons it's a very serious cam for race etc and good for 180bhp with the right head, ignition and carbs. Problem is no low down power, power band is 3250-8000 rpm with 312 degree cam lobes so should be hairy to drive either that or i may have to change it (Christmas present?) Now to make sure that the cam's set up correctly.

Sounds similar to my Piper 320 cam (slightly more hairy) 322 degree 4000-8000 rpm (not driven it yet, lumpy as anything on tick over but revs so easy (2.1, big valve ported head, lightened & balanced, elecronic ignition, twin dellorto's etc......., but have gone with long trumpets to increase low end torque)

Wife's not happy about driving the car with this cam in it as she drives different to me! After speaking again to the chap at Kents he thinks that if we are not going to track day the car it won't suit. It's designed for loose surface fast rally stages so as it's had hardly any use I'm taking it out as a kit and putting it up on eBay. She has ordered a replacement kit for me - Xmas has come early!

Hi Rob....I agree... a 300 degrees cam will be pretty hairy....all or nothing power.

A good cam for the pinto is Kents FR32 for standard to mild tune, or FR33 if you have a few more mods.

Another good choice is Newmans fast road cam gave me 145 bhp on a single 38 dgas and 30 ish to the gallon would pick up from 1500 in 5th would not even think about the cam from orig poster unless in a serious mk 2 escort on the loose my ops only :crazy:
