GRP is not completely waterproof. Hence hell coating.

It would not stop wood from getting damp unless the whole wooden panel or piece of wood was completely 100'/, sealed. Including all the edges.

When it got dry and hot in the summer the wood would then swell and at least break the seal.

Most wood panels can be replicated by plastic ones that are waterproof.

If insulation is used, it must be allowed to breath so don't over pack.

Use a very good wood treatment against creepy crawley's and damp. Better quality=better result.
