Help!!!!

 

I had all the lights working yesterday and just gone to pull out today and the other half noticed I didn't have any O/S lights (brake, side and indicator). The other side does have power and all fuses are working and the indicator relay is working.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't want PC Plod pulling me over

Sounds like a bad earth.

That is the first thing I would check with those faults as it is probably the only comon factor.

Where does the O/S rear cluster earth usually ?

Where ever the builder saw fit is the short answere.

Often a brown wire to a terminal screwed to the bodywork near the light.

Just checked my Superspec and it isn't near the light. All the wires go into a single shroud that goes across to the N/S clusters. And can't see any obvious sign of an earth there either. But as Ian said, there is no consistency about these cars so it could be anywhere,

My dad said when I was fiddling with the electrics down the centre console it briefly showed some life but then went. So that narrows it down to a million and one wires possibly or could still be the earth point

If you take off the lens from the light cluster you should be able to see a wire to a zinc coated earth tag connecting all lights bodies.

Disconnect this and run a new wire to somewhere inconspicious and out of road spray (inside of boot comes to mind) and useing a self tapper create a new earth.

Will this still apply if the lights are led

Good news. It was a faulty earth for the brakes and indicators. However there is no power going to the O/S for the tail light and the reg plate.

Normal practice is to fuse the OS position lights seperately from the NS.

Double check fuses.
