Ignition Live Tapping

Just had a complete failure of the instrument panel. Traced it to the absence of a 12V ignition switched supply. Unfortunately the wire just disappears into the loom and I have no idea where it goes. Have checked all the fuses and they all seem OK so was thinking of just hot wiring an alternative 12V ignition switched supply.

 

Where would be a good place to grab to tap into an ignition live wire ? (Other than the ignition switch itself)

If the other things like headlights and wipers that operate when the ignition is switched on still work then the switch must be ok so you could run a new feed from the switch.

Headlights are not ignition switched so can't use them. Now I check, wipers don't work either unless I feed a 12V supply into the system. The wiper relay must be on the same circuit as the display. And the switch is fine, as the engine runs OK, so I can always take a splice from that, I was just wondering if there is somewhere else I can use.

The power to the wipers should be fused, so it sounds like instrument power might be coming off the same fuse. You just need to track it down :-)
