Are our headlights the same fitment as the mini (old style that is)?

 

I feel an upgrade coming on in the 'winter overhaul'.

Yes there just 7" sealed beams, you can replace with 7" halogen as fitted to old Minis and Landrovers, Straight swap.

The sealed beam lenses are thicker than most H4 as they have 2 thicknesses of glass, the lens and the reflector.

Must repalcement lenses do not fit easily into the standard headlights, but the newest Wipac Quadoptic lenses are an easy - straight fit.

These are much better than the previous Quadoptic lenses - both the reflector and lens have been redsigned.

The only problem I found with going for replacement lights in the original shells was my shells started to rust after about a year so went the whole hog and changed to SVC's 5.75 units (chrome on brass). But other peoples have lasted years so mine could have been from a poor batch (early 2002)

when i got mine i was told told that i should just get some new ones as they wern't meant to be orange
