Silver Boxes

There are three silver boxes hidden behind the Sierra dashboard.

One has code 87BG-10C909AA and seems to be the lamp failure

indicator. Another is 85BB-12A650-CA and is the engine management

controller. But I can't figure out or find what 87BB-10K910-AB is!

It's located low down on the passenger side. Any suggestions?

if it has an alarm 1990+ this is where the module is kept about the size of the palm of your hand

Cheers Gpayne, but there is no alarm and the car is a 1989 Sierra Ghia.

It's more like the size of your total hand, rather than the palm.

Eh? Sounds like an ecu if it's that size. Is there a rubber pipe coming out of it going to the manifold?

The third one on my ghia was for the ABS

I would say the ABS computer that was where mine was. see atached pic/ link this is the loom for it removed, has a big green plug.

Some people take photos of strange things! I see what you mean about your tag system (discussed at last Sundays meeting) makes life a lot easier

New builders take note with everything tagged even the bits you know you are not going to use as it is removed makes it much easier to sort out the loom later

I made lables on the pc about 105 mm x 20mm so filled a page of A4 with them laminated the face and double sided on the back then cut out and stuck around loom. Clear and water proof.

 

I had hoped to fit the abs but could not fit the servo and bits under bonnet.

 

The proper place to lay the loom out see pic

It was obvious in the end! My Sierra has a wee display showing whether

the doors are open, for example, and giving various warnings around the car.

The module was just the controller for that.
