Diy Gas Flowing

Hi guy's,

I've just finished stripping my newly aquired 2.0lt Injection head. Im going to do some gas flow work to before fitting it.

I have bought a cheap set of grinding stones to go in my drill but I did hear that these wont last very long and I should be using a tungsten milling bit. Can anyone sugest where I might be able to buy one of these. My local tool shop looked blank when I asked them on Saturday.

Cheers,

Jon

I'm hoping to pick up a die grinder next weekend, I might try a set of grindstones first as I think we've got some kicking about somewhere, if not I'll be trying some of the things that lonboarder suggests. I'm on the look out for an injection head, how much did you pay for yours if you don't mind me asking

Those cutters are very often called 'Burrs' or 'Rotary Burrs'. The better ones are made from Tungsten Carbide, cheaper ones from HSS or HSSCo. carbide ones of the sort of size needed for porting ought to be around £5.00 - £7.00 each.

Grinding stones are not so good for serious metal removal and are better viewed for finishing/polishing/blending after using a burr. One of the problems with using a stone is the speed needed to make it work properly. You really need 2000 - 2500 rpm min for a stone of 12-15mm diameter and even faster for smaller diameters. To work properly they also need to be dressed frequently to prevent clogging up and overheating. that said it depends how much modifying you are looking at doing! ;) [small Routers and Die grinders are generally faster than drills and hence more suitable for stones...]

Hope this helps Guys!
