  1. Evening, well i was going to boast about my great find..thanks to trex, but on closer inspection i was a little misled, but still a good buy!! The 2.1 Pinto that trex found on the Dutton site, was still available Anyway when i spoke to the guy he said he thought it had twin 40's on, And that it was donated to Yeovil college and is brand new, just rebuit......and he only wanted £80 for it Too good to be true i thought. So off i went down to Somerset, just the 6 hour round trip, why are things you want always so far away, the other engine i got was from Dover. When i got there it had the standard carb :boohoo: But everything else looked good, could tell it had just been rebuilt so threw it in the back of the car, and set off back So got it back, then on Sunday me and my dad took it apart to make sure the job was done well......everything was as he said absolutly brand new no wear or anything.. so i have a brand new 2.1 pinto for £80 quid Well untill i measured the bore size and it was a standard 2.0. :boohoo: So after all that not such a bargain as it could have been but still i am sure a brand new 2LT Pinto would sell for more than £80. Ok last thing, no engine number as it says "Yeovil College" so i best get filling and some stamps Also the Head ID has the letter I by the 4th spark plug....no i am hoping tis means Inserts???????? As it is not a unleaded head code. Anyone help on this? Thanks Simon
  2. Hi Monkey, and welcome to you first day in the club! Thanks for the post, just checked it out and emailed they guy, hopefully still available...fingers crossed
  3. Mmmmm well £400 would be the top of my budget so was hoping not much would be needed to get it on the road.. was thinking 38 DGAS rather than 45's but still the rest you said seems to put it way over budget!! Thanks
  4. Hi, thanks for all the feedack....did not bid for the first link as decided it was far to far to collect. This is for sale on ebay at the moment, reserve of £400...would it be worth it? Another engine Thanks Simon
  5. thanks, thankfully i cant afford a tubo as well :boohoo: Are you having to move the alternator, starter motor and cooling system to get it to fit? Also if you dont mind me asking what do you think the cost would be, if i already had an engine and my dad loves to bodge and make stuff so that could cut some costs, i hope.......
  6. Hi, i know you must be sick of this question, but i tried searching and to had much luck. basically thinking of a Zetec in my 2B, simply is this possible without days of work and expense. Pinto change cheap and done in a day, How much and long would it take to sort a Zetec out? Hopefully a good few days preparing and then max a weekend to fit, Possible? or am i dreaming and should stick to the modified pinto route? Thanks.
  7. I know, i was hoping to get lucky....looks like i best lower my ambitions to a secnt 2L pinto
  8. you forgot the 50% for finding mis placed tools! :gdit: Just for clarification what is a GP1 head? and if you were on the look out for an engine would you consider this one? If it was not in the middle of wales :boohoo:
  9. Hi, if anyone has a 2.1 short pinto engine (with pistons) or a complte 2.1 pinto that is in excellent order, no smoke etc, that they no longer require please let me know. Thanks Simon
  10. Cheers Guys What sort of work did you have to do to the cooling system etc etc....? and more importantly how long did it take?
  11. Hi Guys, just decided that i might change my recently installed 2L pinto with a 2.1 pinto, due to the oil seals need replacing on existing one. Oh and the sump needs to be rewelded due to a bloody high speed bump.. and came into £200 from my kind dad so though...why not get a good reliable one that wont need to be played with each week So hopefully £200 ish will get me a decent condition one that will be reliable and fast. Saw this on ebay and it sounds ok, have asked for more details but yet to hear...how does it sound to someone who might understand the whole ad?? Thanks for any advice Ebay

    Pipe Bender

Hi, just purchased a new exhaust can with a 2" ID, just need to find somewher selling some 2" stainless tube and i could do with a pipe bender to bent this into the engine bay, either that or use to mild steel one supplied by RH and get a 2 to 1 mod. Anyhow any one got a 2" bender around Northampton area, or second best anyone know a good company? Thanks Simon
  17. Hi Grim, can you put it on a webpage for all to see? Should be fairly easy if you have any space via your provider? Just a thought

    38 Dgas Filter

If you type K&N weber, then its the first one that google finds, I still cant find anywhere that does them although it does not look too hard to make if it would be worth it.

    38 Dgas Filter

Evening, just browsing the net and came across the below, unfortunatly could not find a price or place to buy. Thought it may be better to get one of these and attach a cheap induction filter to the other end, via some piping. As my fan is in frot of the radiator, blowing warm air through the engine bay, I thought it may make a difference to have the filter nearer the front of the nose? Anyone used something simular?

    38 Dgas

Hi, had my 38 DGAS carb running for about two weeks now, after trying to set it up correctly, which i have finally managed i think About five turns out on each mixture screw seems to do it. But I noticed a inlet pipe (if thats what you call it?) by the second mixture screw, the one nearest the engine head, and choke. Well just above that is a little pipe that looks like it want a tube connecting to it. Its not a vacum so we left it unconnected. But today i noticed it smelt like maybe petrol had been coming out of it? Does anyone know what i am talking about, and if so what is it? Thanks Simon

    Race Car

Ok as i was completely rejected (apart from the doc) on the subject of going to le mans, if you were to race in a tin top race ( amature under 2L race) what car would you choose... Something i have been thinking about since i saw it at mallary park, but know doubt too expensivbe for one person to do. I thought escort Mk2 or Fiesta XR2i, with 2L engine? Other cars i saw was a Alfa 156? and MG ZR
