Hi the closer to the tank the better as there design is to push not pull.
how do you have it mounted. Is it on the rubber cotton reels or hard mounted -
I think it’s safe to say that the water pump is not doing what it’s supposed to do
the reason the switch does not come one till around 10mins after is due to thermo siphon effect.
a Davis Craig type pump will do the job but fit it with its controlleri have one fitted to my zero from when I built it ~ I removed the impeller from the pump and never had a problem

Ok LED lights can be a nightmare. Because they work on such little currents the slight currant back feed through the switch can make them work where a normal bulb will pass the current but not shine.
as a temp measure put standard bulbs back in while you check your wiring once your happy everything is working swop one bulb at a time. You might need resistors in the indicators or the headlights might need a relay so they only get currant from one feed.
I have had friends fit LED headlights etc and seen exactly this problem on OEM cars.
all manner of strange things started to happen- 1

Hi were the bike carbs new or used.
the reason I ask is I bought a set from eBay from someone that says they were using them on there pinto but after fitting them there is NO WAY these were being used as when I used my AFR gauge they were running SO lean at idle they would have melted the pistons ( prob why they were being sold)I had to drill out the bypass jets before the bypass screws had any affect
and I had all the speal about they were set up by bog brothers etc.

Just a thought have you took the main earth strap off the engine when you removed the starter

Always use the original full mark as full regardless of sump depth
the oil level max is designed to not foam up by the spinning crank
-
It sounds like your putting the main battery wire on the solenoid term NOT on the main starter term

Hate to say it but since stent left I think the editorial of the mag has fallen dramatically it’s gone from a good read to a flick through and leave on the side.
the other mag TKC is basically a look at what cleaning products I got and used this month !! -
Sorry Bob but that’s brilliant

On strange cures the Ford Capri 3.0 had a strange misfire from new. FORDS cure was to supply dealers a large mat that was to be placed against the front of the car AGAINST a wall and the car screamed it’s nuts off in first gear for a few mins. it worked every time.

The metal bracket fits on the end of the accelerator pedal pivot.
it stops the pedal box pivoting as the clutch pedal is pressed.
the ends of them are cut to fit the square tube chassisalso yes the pedals are quite close. You can fit a longer bolt and space it more but I bought a pair of slim fit trainers to wear while I drive my zero.

I agree.
as we enter the point where a part built robin hood are being advertised for around the same money as a basic zero kit you have to wonder is it worth it ?Esp as some robin hoods now for sale have never been IVA’d
im def not saying don’t bother but unless your picking up the Robin Hood for 100s not 1000s you really do have to think is a new kit the way to go instead of rebuilding something that has been through several hands

I also done the run last year I booked to do it again this year but with COVID alas it never happened but have booked again for next year.
I done it with friends in a Lamborghini /Gt mustang /Bmw i8 /and 2 x MaclarensI agree to do it on your own probably something you’ll only do once but in a group it’s aps brilliant

Hi would anyone have a couple of pics of how the roof fits on a zero. Mainly on where the frame fixing brackets fit on the car and where you drill the roof frame

Putting a bit of oil down the bores confirms it’s a ring problem
but putting oil down the bores can fowl the plugs
I would use a different set of plugs for the test or after it.

Ok. The dieseling is prob because it’s off the idle circuit and the throttle is held open slightly
as stated it’s important to adjust both mixture screws or as you said you’ll go round in circles
it does sound like your chap is not quite familiar with this kind of carb.
but they can be set up quite nicelythere is quite a bit on the net regarding setting up that carb.
maybe change the pump jet to a 50 0r 55 or you’ll get a flat spot as you put ya foot down.

Hi did you get any more information on why he could not tune it.
is it lean on idle or flat out.
running the v6 carb on pintos has been done for decadesif your not familiar with this carb it has TWO idle mixture screws and it’s important to undo BOTH and by the same amount not just one
the pain in the bottom one is against the cam cover if fitted to the standard pinto manifold. and you’ll need a right angle screwdriver to turn it.
a handy tip is to always use a new gasket/heatsink between carb and manifold

The trouble with the sbd ecu is it’s no longer supported so dealers that have the mapping facilities might now be few and far between but why not find someone with a rolling road to run it up and see how it’s running before spending ££££££ changing something that might be running fine
