    Air Filter

Ther is a link someware but i cant find it. However you can fit an adaptor on the carb with the air intake pointing forwards, add a pipe to the front and put your filter on that. Added benifit of cool air
  2. It's always recomended to double dowl it to the flywheel + new bolts and locktight. A lot of us are going for extra power so best to do the sensible things first.
  3. Try and set it so it shows empty correctly as a stop gap until you can sort it out properly, we all know when it is full, it's when its getting low we really need to know. If you use a GPS speedo ( i have one on my PDA with Tom Tom) it will not pass SVA as they check speed on the rollers
  4. Steve if you need some help I can do photoshop, will size, crop, remove unwanted bits etc. If it helps.
  5. Thank you Thespian, the next question is should i put an electronic fuel pump on, i am not sure how much the standard mechanical pump can deliver.
  6. First off i have only put one fuel pipe in but i can still fit another without to much problem. Do i need it with a carburator engine, that said i will be going twin carbs in the future. Point 2 if i go twin carbs should i fit an electric pump now while i can, Facet etc.
  7. I like it , it looks right.
  8. Like most books on the subject they talk about ideal situations, in ideal temperatures. Before you turn it over on the starter warm up the oil and build up a bit of preasure. It's always scary starting up anengine for the first time when you have built it yourself, but i am sure you have taken a lot more care than some well known engine re-manefacturers. "Should spin 1 revolution with the flick of the wrist" " Now you can fit the rods and pistons" It would of helped if i had read further on. Sorry to add confusion in my haste.
  9. When assembled it should rotate almost 1 revolution with a flick of the wrist. So the book says. Just a thought it could be the temprature, different metals etc.
  10. I've had a bar welded on as per Longboarders but i am still using the original belts and mountings at the back. Also added holes for extra bolts to side of boot with tube welded in to stop them crushing the tube. My engineering mates recon the roll bar was made out of industrial heating pipe. So free supply of steel tube in old schools or government offices.
  11. I have photoshop CS and its awsome, so i could have done a better job if i had taken a bit of time. For any one who has CS i have some interesting actions, a sort of photo lab/special effects at a press of a button. This ones Solarization.
  12. Low res but a bit like this perhaps.
  13. Jane has seen another Hood, this time in Beaulieu park. Green or Blue probably a 2B. Who is That.
  14. For Doctor Fox. The shooting minutes to finished programe miutes varies with production issues but 20 to 1 is about right. and that is usually 20 to 1 after you have put the unusable stuff on the cutting room floor. Really looking forward to seeing it, and Soooo jealous my car is not ready yet. Note to self work harder
  15. OUCH, i will make sure my studs are up to it. Also have flack jacket and helmet at work ( just insurance for some of the foriegn trips) all i need now is some of those tanky glasses they wear in the desert. Could be a picture for the calander
  16. Series 3, i think, Red with 53 on the side, Sunday 12:00 Pump lane, Chelmsford. I think i've seen this one before, seems to come from around the Springfield arms area. I always seem to be going in the other direction. Anybody know if this is a member. So close i would love to have a close look.
  17. AWSOME. i want one. NOW. suppose i better finish my one first.
  18. Has this happend to you Swan, flying studs etc?
  19. A lot of people use a spacer to push the wheels out a little just make sure your studs are long enough. If its just the cycle wing bracket though you should be able to bend or re-weld to fit. While your at it have a look at the rear wheels with the slight camber on the rear you may foul on full bounce.
  20. This is a bit off the wall and may not be possible or practicle but at Brands for Totol kit car live i met up with an old mate who has got a dax and his hand brake was mounted under the dash, horizontal and the lever pulls out towards you.
  21. There cheap go for it car builder solutions want £14 for 1
  22. www.burtonpower.com Plus search for Vulcan engineering. Also pick your way through this one www.pumaracing.co.uk loads of info.
  23. I have run 8mm microbore central heating pipe down the armrests on my series 3. Be carefull it bends and kinks very easily however it is cheap and you get a lot in a roll. I have, and would advise you to consider the same, run the fuel down one side and the wiring and brake fluid down the other. Fuel and electrics, not good.

    Ecu

Have a look at Megasquirt by Bowling and Grippo i think there is a thread to do with this as well. a bit of do it yourself but so much cheaper. www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html also search for bowling and grippo or mega squirt or mega jolt, they also a users forum for problem solving, a bit like this one, and loads of maps for different engines and mods. I have a view to do this in the future.
  25. Nigel you will shortly have mail, Chris thanks for that advise. My next move will be to draw out the RHE loom full size on a 9 foot wide roll of photographic background paper i'm even considering doing it in coloured pen. Then i will start on the sierra loom. The loom (or half loom) i have does not match any of the sierra loom. It has Brown earths, Red main un switched power, black switched power, white and yellow main and dipped. a variety of grey/black red/yellow green/black some wires are connected to fuse box/ column switches and light, ancilery etc. other leads of the same colour seem to have nothing to do with that function. Would still appreciate any info and diagrams
